“I can do it,” as I am about to reach for my son Sage pulls away.
She is back in a few minutes with a baby monitor in hand and sets in on the counter.
“Let’s go”
I rub my temple as I begin to tell them about how Eryx saved me from the horrible creepy man. In full detail I tell them about the most magical night of my life.
“Hold up.” Cassia throws her hand in the air to stop me.
“Weren’t you the same one who saidI hate one night stand pregnancies in books.” Cassia points her finger at me.
“Did I say that?” Scratching my neck, I’m praying Sage doesn’t remember.
“Oh, my goodness the night when we called. This Greek Love night.” Sage is too excited.
Rosemary gazes at the three of us like we were talking a foreign language. “What is this Greek Love?”
“Cassia’s smut book. You said hated books like that. Look at you now living the warped dream.” Sage chuckles as she reaches for some pitta bread and hummus.
“One night stand without protection. It should be called rampant raw doggery if you ask me.” Cassia chuckles. Rosemary tries to hold in her laugh.
“Who are you and what have you done to my angelic sister Cassia.”
Cassia lifts her shoulders and drops it. “I am here still.”
“Tell us the rest.” Sage shimmies her shoulders.
“What I say now has to stay here. Please.” I press my hands on the cold countertop. I felt like I needed something to anchor me.
They all nod and I tell them about the euphoria feeling I got up with and the murder I saw.
“That’s why you hid in the closet,” Sage reasons.
“So is the uncle coming for you and Kai?” Rosemary questions.
“I don’t know but it seems like.”
We all get silent; my brain is reeling with what they might be thinking.
“It’s self-defense if you ask me. I feel comfortable knowing that he has the capacity to defend you and Kai.” Rosemary rocks her legs on the stole.
“He is a murderer. We should go to the police,” Sage screeches.
“Sage, girl, read the room,” Rosemary replies.
“Sage, if Zac uncle sent somebody to kill him and Zac took care of it would you still call Zac a murder?” Cassia asks.
“No,” Sage states.
“Exactly.”
“Are you okay? Do you need to go to therapy or anything?” Cassia inquires.
Therapy? Yes, I need a ton, but I don’t know where to start with this.
“I am …as good as I can be for me and Kai.”
Rosemary stands and hugs me. “We got you honey.”
