Khaos’ phone rings and he answers. I inhale because now that the news of my marriage has been rumored many of the old families may fly in to see.

“Vasileiou is here.”

I stand as I make my way down the stairs to greet my honored guest.

ANISE

Sitting on the edge of the tub, steams floats around. I pull my legs together as I think about Eryx and this morning’s rendezvous.

If I am being honest, I wish he didn’t stop. I was on the verge of an historic orgasm only Eryx can give me. My eyes were rolled back in my head, and I was about to have the most amazing orgasm and he stopped and moved away. Unaffected, no pain, no emotion.

I couldn’t even formulate a sentence after he moved away. Drool sat at the side of my mouth. I can still feel a small pulse throbbing in me. I should be angry but I’m not. I’m frustrated.

I make my way out of the bathroom to my walk-in closet. If it were night, I would have taken one of my toys and dealt with this low intense buzz inside of my body. I wanted more, my body yearned for more but, I have a meeting in an hour and a son to take care of.

After I changed my clothing today, I’m keeping it simple. Cream turtleneck, fitted jeans, hair left open. Add a light make up and I’m ready. Walking down into the kitchen I get Kai’s bottle ready. Though Eryx has a staff, I take pride in taking care of my son.

As I add the formula and water to the bottle, I put on the warmer and then place the bottle in. That should take about three mins, striding into my office I switch on my monitor getting ready to start the day.

I grab Kai’s bottle and carry it up to his room.

I turn on the lights and placed his bottle near his changing table. I take out his clothes that he would be wearing today, some new diapers and wipes.

“Morning, bubba.” I reach into the crib and lift my son out kissing him on the forehead and rock him.

“Did you have a good sleep?” I ask. Normally my Kai is an easy-going-no-fuss baby but this morning he got up in a mood.

He rubs his eyes and begins to throw his body back out of my arms. I ditched changing his clothing and sat on the rocker and gave him his bottle.

After changing his clothing, I noticed there was no change to his mood. He was getting worse.

“Hey. Hey, baby, hey.” I pick him up and carry him downstairs to my office. There I have a small playmat with his toys etc.

Picking up his favorite Elmo toy, I move it side to side trying to make him smile. Kai screams and he is pointing out the door.

I have an important meeting with a huge brand called Senica in a few minutes.

“Kai, baby, what is it honey?” I press my hands against his forehead and neck. He is not feverish. I rest him on the mat, and he proceeds to crawl to the door.

“Hey, bubba, no, no.” I lift him and carry him back to his play mat. He sides eyes me and throws himself back on the baby mat screaming.

The soft clicking on the floor tells me Zeus and Titus are close. They both peer into my office, sniffing the floor by the threshold of my door like they are wondering if they should enter.

Kai quiets down for a second when he sees the dogs, but he begins to scream again. Glancing at the clock on my wall, I note that I have ten minutes before I sit down for this meeting.

The dogs back away like they said, “Nope not today.”

Sighing, I swipe Kai up into my arms.

“Kai, baby, Mommy needs you to shush for some seconds,” I whisper against his head, and I rock him.

He begins to scream harder. I know Eryx mentioned getting a nanny earlier, and I disagreed with it. Now I think I should consider it. His screams are becoming overwhelming.

8:10 a.m. I have no idea what time Eryx’s meeting is starting, but he is my last resort. Maybe his meeting will start at 9 or 10. I sprint up the stairs with Kai still making my ear drums ring, pulling at my blouse and hair. I didn’t bother to knock. I waltz into the office with a screaming rascal in my hand.

“Eryx, I need your help I have no idea what’s wrong with your son—” I stop talking as eight pairs of eyes turn toward me and Kai.
