“I can’t breathe, not a cat Rosie,” Cassia shouts.
“Yeah, then he would lean his head on my thigh and sigh like my vagina wasn’t any good,” Rosemary laughs out.
“Aww I’m sure it’s good. Marcus was tired,” Sage cackles.
“He had the gall to cheat.” I dip a celery stick into some blue cheese.
“Any way back to you. Hear me out, give Eryx a chance. Enjoy the months you have left.” Sage says. Even though Cassia writes romance, the real romantic is Sage.
“I agree, Cassia’s plan didn’t work,” Rosemary states.
All the thoughts of this morning and what could be rushed through my head.
“What happens if I fall in love, and he doesn’t? It’s not just me. It’s Kai too. My heart creaks from thought of the pain. Touch my baby’s fat cheeks.
“You will cry, heal and move on. just like good ole Rosie here,” Cassia says.
“Anise, what happens if he does fall in love with you,” Rosemary counters.
That is the question. If he does, well we can be a family? If he doesn’t...
“Invite positive vibes into your life. Here.” Cassia digs into her bag hanging on the chair and pulls out a crystal. “This is rose quartz, it’s great for love. Keep that on you.”
“This is pretty thanks.
Rosie, you want one too?” Cassia asks.
“Nah, I really not looking for love,” Rosie replies as she pushes the quartz back to Cassia.
Cassia pouts. “Oh, okay then. It’s not like I didn’t bless each one for you guys.”
Rosemary rolls her eyes. “Give it to me.”
Cassia smiled broadly. “Here you go. And one for you, Sage.”
“Hey, I went to the mall with mom on Thursday, and she is crazy,” Sage said.
Dropping the crystal in my pocket I peer at Sage. “What you mean?”
“So, we went shopping for some final stuff for the baby,” Sage fixes herself on the stool.
“You know the new gym opened on the second floor. TKO. Well, Mom and I are passing there, and a man—he is handsome, could be around like 45-50—passes us.”
I pick up Kai from his chair and begin to rock him. His small yawns and those heavy eyelids mean sleep in on the way.
“Well, mom stops him. Excuse me sir. You are a gorgeous man. The man was blushing. Do you like cookies?”
“Cookies? Why did she ask him that?” Cassia asks. I feel just as puzzled as my sister. Rosemary is already shaking her head.
“Yes, cookies. The man said yes. Stupid me, I’m like Ma, you have cookies in the bag and didn’t give me any!” Sage shouts.
Rosemary’s shoulders are shaking and I have no idea what she is laughing at.
“She ignores me, the man said yes he like cookies. He pulls him closer, have you ever had a salt and pepper cookie.” Sage wiggles her eyebrows.
Sage slams her hand on the island. “Salt and pepper cookies. Now Larry’s Bakery on the 1stfloor does have Salt and Pepper Butterscotch Pine Nut Cookies. I’m like ma, give me a cookie.”
Cassia is now laughing; Kai is becoming dead weight in my arms as he falls to sleep.
