Rolling out of my bed, I make my way down to Anise’s bedroom. Pushing open the door as expected the headboard and half of the bed is up, the other half is lopsided on the floor. I want to laugh out loud but I hold it in.

Where could she be? Maybe I was wrong, she must have gone downstairs to the couch. Then I hear it, a small snore. Opening the door wider, I spot my wife on the wooden floor curled up tightly, with the blanket covering her body and a single pillow tucked under her head.

I stand over her, watching the moonlight splay over her pretty dark skin. What am I going to do with this woman? Without hesitation, I lift her up in my arms and begin to carry her back to my room.

Her head rests on my chest. “Eryx?”

“Agápi mou, sleep.”

She didn’t struggle, she just sank deeper into my chest. When I reach my room, I place her on the bed, slide in beside her, and pull her close to my body. We both sigh.

I have to admit it, I sleep well, but having Anise next to me in bed gives me the best sleep of my life.

ANISE

“He did what?” Cassia asks as she rolls on the bed laughing. Rosemary and Sage chortle with each other as they both lean on the headboard of my reconstructed bed.

I refuse to laugh with my sisters. I need to stay mad.

“He took that bed apart. I still don’t know how? Then I woke up laying on his chest this morning. The green or black?” I place two dresses in front of me.

They all pause to look at the dresses as I shift side to side in front of me.

“None, try something else. Shows those legs off.” Sage rubs her belly in circles.

“I bet it was the best sleep you had in years,” Cassia rolls on her stomach, folds her legs up and sits her pretty face in her hands.

Was it the best sleep I had in years? Hell, yes it was. Was I going to confess that? Never.

I go back into my closet and a blazer dress I bought in Milan two years ago that catches my attention.

I didn’t bother to show my sister, I put it on. “Perfection,” I thought.

This retro blazer dress is black, covered in gold and pearls. The delicate design of the pearls and swirling gold patterns made this dress pop.

I slip into a sparkly heel and walk back out to the bedroom. “What do you ladies think?”

“Love it!” Cassia claps.

“Check out the legs, he doesn’t stand a chance.” Sage snaps her fingers in a Z pattern.

“Okay, you got the outfit. Take off the dress and start on your hair and makeup.” Rosemary gets off the bed and takes the blazer dress from me and hangs it up.

I slip out of the shoes and proceed to the bathroom to do my hair and makeup.

My sisters follow me. Cassia claps her hands and walks to the tub and proceeds to sit in it. Sage waddles to the fainting couch and stretches out with a sigh. Rosemary sits on an ottoman like me.

“If I had a bathroom like this, I would never leave. This tub is so deep. It’s as big as my apartment.” Cassia kicks her legs up in the tub.

“She has no home training some days.” Sage sighs, tapping the seat beside her. “I would like to take this fainting couch home.”

I begin to finger comb my hair, spritzing it with water to loosen the curls.

“How is the dating going Rosie?” I ask, as I stick a hair pin in my mouth.

“I have a story for y’all. I met this guy at Russel’s, the date is going great. Like he got me flowers, he is handsome and intelligent. We are really hitting it off.” Rosie chuckles as she is telling the story.

Cassia eases up into a sitting position and places her hand and chin at the edge of the porcelain tub.
