“I’m not joking.” She’s clearly upset, her fists are clenched at her sides.
“Okay, baby. What do you want me to do about that?”
“He is your brother, send him to college or something”
I laugh again because I can’t imagine Draven as a doctor. Zeeta folds her arms over her chest.
“He wants to be a Banner”
She walks around and sits on edge of my desk.
“But he can be Dr. Banner.”
I laugh “Like the hulk?”
“Let me ask you a question?”
“Shoot?” I tap my fingers against my desk.
“If given the chance, would you have chosen this life?”
“Yes, I would have. Draven has made his choice”
“He is eighteen Rhet.” She bounces her hand on her leg.
“Let me consider it. I will talk to him”
Her smile spreads across her face. I would do anything to keep my woman happy. She looks back and see the leather folder on my desk.
“What’s that?” she asks.
“The bids information for the lot I want. I have to email it over to the bank, but I have a meeting over in outer Lakeshore.”
“I can do it. Show me the account and I can get it done for you.”
My mind says no, but my heart says yes, trust her. I open the folder pointing out the account.
“But it’s okay. I’ll send it later on today.”
“Can I ask you another question?” she asks.
“What, baby?”
“What’s the highest you’re willing to pay for this lot?”
“Right now, my final bid is going to be at twenty-five million. But sky’s the limit.” That’s my final answer. I get up and give her kiss.
“I will see you back home,” I state as I grab my briefcase off my desk and walk to the door. The last thing I see is her smile as I close the door behind me.
Home. I love that word more and more.
ZEETA
The air condition hums throughout the office. Yet My palms are sweaty, and I feel so hot. I send Carson a text saying I have the billfold in my hand. My phone rings within seconds.
“Hello.” I feel like I can’t breathe.
“How much is he bidding?” Carson asks, sounding happy over the phone.
