“Lorenzo,” Larissa snapped.
“What?” I groaned, looking at her over my shoulder.
“Why didn’t you call me? You nearly die and don’t even fucking tell me?”
“I didn’t nearly die,” I rolled my eyes.
“Sammy,” she snapped at him and he smiled up at her, “why didn’t you call me?”
He shrugged as well, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know tha-”
“You don’t have to defend yourself, Sam,” I told him.
We had tried everything to snap Sammy out of his obsession with my sister. I couldn’t figure out what his interest was in her. He was a constantly filthy mechanic, and she was a high maintenance mob princess. She never kept her interest in Antoni a secret either, but none of it swayed Sam. He simply didn’t care, and he worshipped the ground she walked on. She could treat him like shit and he would smile and thank her for it.
“Can he walk?” Larissa asked Antoni, and he nodded.
“Of course I can fucking walk. Why?”
“I’m taking you to see Dad,” she grabbed my arm, helping me up out of the chair.
“What the hell for?”
“He’s worried sick,” she said.
“Well why did you tell him?”
“I didn’t. He found out on the inside.”
I looked at Antoni and he frowned, looking just as confused as I was.
How could he have known?
Who did he know inside?
It wouldn’t have been from one of us, so that only meant one thing.
It came from a Redliner.
“They’re spreading the word,” Antoni smirked, “bragging that they took out the second in command of The Santino’s.”
I shook my head.
“Dirty fuckers,” I chuckled.
“They must think that you’re dead,” Antoni raised an eyebrow, “we could work that to our advantage.”
“No,” Larissa said, guiding me towards the door against my will, “we’re not turning this into a fucking strategy, Toni.”
Antoni didn’t even look at her, he just smirked at me and I nodded.
“Go see your dad, find out what you can,” Antoni said after a beat.
I nodded again, and let Larissa drag me towards her car.
“Bye, Larissa,” we heard Sammy call after us.
My sister shoved me into the passenger seat of her tiny Mini Cooper in which I barely fit.
