Page 10 of Easy Steal

I knew that my Dad wouldn’t follow if he saw me with a man Samuel’s size.

At the end of the day, he was a coward, and he couldn’t have been that determined to talk to me if it had been this long.

I knew that he wouldn’t risk it.

“How do you even know how to hot wire a car?” he watched me with a frown.

I shrugged, “I spend a lot of time on the internet.”

“Ah, right,” he nodded, “I forgot. You’re the one who works with Rome, right? The chick that… I don’t know,” he gestured with his hands, trying to find the words he was looking for. “The one that’s pretty good with computers?”

“Well, my masters degree would make me ‘pretty good with computers’ I guess.”

“Fancy,” he smirked.

I rolled my eyes, “where am I taking you?”

“Who were you trying to get away from before?” he asked, ignoring my question.

“How do you know I was trying to get away from someone?”

“You were trying to steal a shitty old Corolla in broad daylight?”

“Touche’.”

“So?” he pushed.

“So what?”

“Who was it?”

“Man, I really don’t want to talk about it, okay? You saved my ass, I said thank you. End of story.”

He snorted, “I don’t remember you thanking me, actually.”

“Well, I just did.”

“No you didn’t,” he laughed again.

“So what wereyoudoing in this part of the city? Isn’t your shop on the other side of town?”

He shrugged, “I like the bakery on that street.”

“Hmm,” I said, tapping my nails against the steering wheel, “it’s also pretty close to BoredHeux, isn’t it?” I raised an eyebrow.

He rolled his eyes.

BoredHeux was the lingerie store that I knew Zarina, Sammy’s little sister, owned.

I also knew that Larissa happened to work there.

“Actually, can I ask you a question? About that computer stuff?” he changed the subject.

“Sure,” I shrugged.

“Can all the stuff you do be applied to cars and motorbikes?”

“That’s a very vague question, but yes. Why?”
