Page 100 of Easy Steal

I stepped out from behind the car and began firing, as Livie ran behind me back to the safety of Rome’s car.

I followed her after she was hidden, and I crouched behind the open door as she sat low in the passenger seat and opened up her laptop. She was taking long breaths through pursed lips as she furiously typed.

“You need to tell the others to get back,” she said.

“I need to stay here with you.”

“No, you need to go and get everyone away from the building. Now.”

“But I-”

“Just fucking do it, Sam.”

I nodded once.

I stood and ran back towards Toni.

“Everyone needs to fall back.”

“What? She’s doing it now?” he frowned.

“Doing what?”

“Fuck,” Toni said through gritted teeth.

He looked around the car door and took another shot before letting out a long and high pitched whistle. Everyone turned to look at him and the gunfire stopped momentarily.

Our boys started taking steps back, retreating slowly as to not draw attention to the fact that they were.

Toni reached forward, grabbing Rome by the wrist and pulling her backwards, and pushing her down to the ground behind the car door.

King looked over at us, and then over to Livie sat back in her seat in the car.

His jaw clenched, and his eyes snapped to me for a split second before he stalked towards her. I followed him, and Toni tried to grab my wrist.

“Sam, stop.”

I brushed him off and headed around the front of the car.

King smirked at me once more before I was in his face.

“Ah, little Sammy not so little any more. You finally tired of being Toni’s sidekick?”

“Sam, get back here. Now!” Toni yelled, his gun still drawn.

“You won’t fucking lay a finger on her again, you hear me?”

“Or what?” he lifted his chin in an attempt to become taller than me.

“Or Toni will be the least of your problems.”

“Sam, fucking move!” Toni ordered again.

But I was in a stare down with King, and I would not be the one to back down.

“Samuel!” Livie shouted, and I looked over at her.

She opened her mouth to shout again, but it was drowned out by a blast behind us.
