“I have an idea of how you can pay me back.”
“Pay you back?” I scoffed, “For what?”
“For saving your ass from getting arrested.”
“I said thank you.”
“No, you haven’t,” he laughed again.
I groaned, “what do you need?”
“The Redliners. Toni thinks we can target their cars and bikes in order to track them or weaken them somehow. Is that possible?”
I nodded, “sure, I mean, yeah. You could plant GPS trackers on them, but you hardly need an expert for that.”
He pursed his lips, “what else is there? What could you do? Theoretically?”
I sighed, “well, it depends on the age of the cars really, and whether we have to hack into them remotely or if we can get our hands on them.”
A smirk threatened his lips, “I think we can get a hold of them.”
“Well,” I sighed, “one option that’s fairly new tech, is if you’re able to plant and program a chip into the CANBUS unit, we couldtheoreticallyremotely control the cars. ”
“So what, like drive them without being inside of them?”
“Anything. I could cut the engine at will. I could disable the breaks. I could jam the steering.”
“You could assassinate them and make it look like a car accident,” he said quietly, staring straight ahead as I pulled down the industrial road.
“Don’t fuck with a girl who’s ‘pretty good with computers’,” I smirked.
“Is it possible to do to motorbikes?”
I shrugged, “not as easily. Especially since most bikers like their vintage bikes. This kind of hacking is only possible with newer models.”
He nodded, deep in thought.
I looked over at him from the corner of my eye as I drove. His eyebrows clashed together, and I could almost see his mind running away with his train of thought. I knew that the situation with the Redliners had worsened, but I didn’t know what they were planning to do about it.
“You have to help me,” he said, turning in his seat to face me.
I chuckled, stopping the car in front of his workshop. “I don’thaveto do anything. I’m sure you can figure it out yourself.”
“Come on. You owe me.”
“Are you serious right now?”
“Plus, this war is going to affect all of us. You’re involved now, just as much as I am,” he said.
“You realise that I have two jobs, right? I’ll give you any information you need, but I don’t have the time to get involved.”
“I’ll talk to Rome. Three weeks is all I need.”
“What do you need me for anyway?”
“We need this solved now. Toni wants it done without casualties on our side. This is all I can think of right now. Calm and calculated is Toni’s strong suit, not mine.”
I sighed, and shook my head.
