“What are you doing here?” her eyes darted to me for only a split second.

“This is my brother, Samuel. We’re looking for Rome,” he spoke loudly over the thumping music.

She nodded, and pointed towards a door to the back.

We made our way through the crowd of drunks and entered the office. When Toni shut the door behind him, the music all but faded away. Rome was frowning at her computer before she looked up and noticed us.

“What are you guys doing here?”

“Have you seen or heard from Sierra?” Antoni asked her, going to her side and playing with a strand of her hair.

She shook her head, “no, why?”

Antoni sighed and shot me a look.

“Sam?” Rome frowned, “what is it?”

I shrugged, stuffing my hands in my pockets and Toni rolled his eyes.

“He was with Livie tonight, and she got a text from her.”

“Yeah,” Rome shrugged, “she’s been harassing Liv for months. Texting, calling, trying to get her to forgive her.”

“This was a bit different. The way she worded it, it was as if she was watching them.”

“Watching you?” Rome frowned, “watching you what?”

I shrugged again.

“They were in his car.”

“I still don’t buy whatever bullshit you two are up to, by the way,” Rome pointed a finger at me. “If you hurt her, I’ll castrate you without a minute of hesitation,” she warned.

I put up my hands in surrender and shook my head.

“Baby,” Toni got her attention again, “the text said ‘Does Sam know about your son?’”

Rome took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly, shaking her head.

“What?” I frowned.

“Sam,” she sighed, “I’m not going there. That’s up for Livie to tell you. But it’s still weird that Sierra even knew that you were hanging out.”

Rome didn’t deny it.

Maybe there was a kid out there that I didn’t know about.

But why hide him? What did she gain from it?

“Where were you when you got the text?”

I shrugged, “just down some random street in the suburbs.”

She frowned.

“Let me talk to Liv,” she said, “I’ll see if she’s spoken to her recently and try and figure out what Sierra might be up to.”

I nodded once.
