Page 42 of Easy Steal

“It’s dangerous. If we get caught, we don’t know what they’ll do.”

She laughed once, “I’ll be fine. You need me there, otherwise you’ll fuck it up.”

I smirked, shaking my head.

“We should bring the boys though, the extra hands will get it done quicker.”

I nodded, “I’ve already asked them and they’re happy to help.”

“Good.”

“Can I ask you a question?” I tested, twirling a tracker in between my fingers.

“Mmm?” she asked, looking at the screen.

“You have a masters degree in this stuff, right? Why not get a job in the field, what are you doing hanging around in this dodgy part of the world?”

She chuckled, “I have a criminal record. Couldn’t get a job.”

“Ohh,” I teased, sitting down opposite her, “what did you do?”

“Shh,” she snapped, frowning as she typed.

“Stealing?”

She shook her head.

“Assault?”

She chuckled out loud, throwing her head back.

“You’ll never know, Sammy.”

I narrowed my eyes at her and slowly backed out of the office with my hands up.

“Now,” she snapped, “go call Princess.”

“Well, I’ll leave you to it.”

She didn’t acknowledge my leaving, too immersed in her computer screen to notice.

I shook my head and smiled to myself as I closed the door quietly behind me.

I dug my phone out of my pocket and called Larissa.

“Hey, Sammy,” she answered straight away.

“Hey, Riss. We have your parts here. You can bring it in when you’re ready.”

“Oh thank you,” she said sweetly, “I can always count on you Sam.”

“Anything, anywhere, any time.”

We agreed to meet at midnight.

Daniel and Zeke were already parked at the back of the shop. We would all take one car to draw less attention, and for safety.
