Zeke let out a low whistle as Livie drove in, admiring her car.
As soon as she stepped out the boys flocked to it.
“Pop it,” Zeke said as Daniel stuck his head inside of it, admiring the purple interior.
“Not hard to guess your favourite colour,” Daniel chuckled, rubbing his hands over the fluffy purple steering wheel cover before popping the hood of the car. Both boys stuck their heads into the engine bay, fingers fiddling with the pristine clean metal of the engine.
Livie shook her head, retrieving her backpack from the backseat and another bag that held all of the trackers and dongles.
“Can we take this?” Zeke pleaded, turning to me.
“What?” I frowned, “what’s wrong with Jolene?”
My eyes scanned my own car, offended.
“Please, Sam,” Daniel backed him up before turning to Livie, “can I drive it?”
Livie scoffed, “fuck no.”
“Why?” he pouted.
“I’ve seen the dents on your car, Danny.”
Zeke chuckled and Daniel pushed him. Livie shook her head while they argued about who got to drive.
“We can take it,” she sighed, “but I’m the only one who drives her.”
“Her?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,hername is Abigail.”
“Abigail?” I scoffed.
“Still better than Jolene,” Zeke said to Danny under his breath.
I narrowed my eyes towards them.
“Talk shit about her again and ya both fired,” I said, walking around to the passenger side door.
“Righto,” Daniel rolled his eyes, sliding into the backseat.
“Come on then, children,” Livie sighed, hopping back into the driver’s seat and shoving her backpack between my legs. She slowly pulled out of the dirt parking lot and onto the road, before she pressed the gas pedal - launching us forward with a low rumble.
“So,” Zeke stuck his head between the two front seats, “what’s the plan?”
I looked at Livie and she looked at me.
“Uhh,” I said.
She rolled her eyes before speaking for me, “we’ll do a drive-by of each location first and see what kind of movement there is. It won’t take long to plant the trackers on the bikes, that’ll be easy. It’s the cars that are gonna be the pain in the ass.”
“Well,” I said, “you boys can be in charge of the trackers,” I pulled up the bag from the floor and handed the plastic bag full of black GPS trackers to them. “Go around and place one in an inconspicuous place on the bikes. Liv and I will plant the dongles in the cars.”
“Won’t they be able to see the dongles?”
Livie shrugged, “they’re very small and the port is under the dash. Unless they’re trying to plug something in themselves, they shouldn’t notice. Even if they do, they won’t know what it is or who put it there. This will either go perfectly, or it just won’t work. It’s the only thing we’ve got.”
The boys nodded and looked through the bag.
