“Sammy,” he snapped, putting his gun on the desk, “what the fuck, man?”

“I know, I’m sorry,” I put my hands in the air as the boys and Livie walked in behind me.

“What’s going on?”

“Can we stash this car here for a few days?” I asked, gesturing with my head towards Livie’s car.

“What?” Livie snapped.

“It’s the only thing they saw, Liv. It’s the only way they’d be able to identify us.”

She shook her head and crossed her arms.

“Please, Sean?” I turned back to him.

“What have you gotten into now?” he asked, sitting in his chair with a huff.

“Just some bullshit with the Redliners,” I stuffed my hands into my pockets.

He shook his head, “your brother put you up to this?”

“He needs my help. Ren’s gone, Dimitri is injured. We need this sorted ASAP.”

“I knew it was coming, Sam. I told you.”

I rolled my eyes.

“I can’t stay out of it forever,” I sighed, “I’m still a Santino.”

He sighed, shaking his head.

“So can we leave the car here or not?”

He nodded slowly, “course.”

“Thanks, mate. We’ll come get it in a few days.”

I turned to leave and Sean grabbed his keys off the desk, “I’ll give ya’s a lift back.”

I nodded, “thank you.”

We all walked towards Sean’s ute, and he fell into step with Liv.

“Haven’t seen you around before, darlin’.”

She smiled, “I’m Livie. I’m just helping.”

“This your car then?” he asked, pointing towards it.

“Yes, sir.”

“I’ll take good care of it, promise.”

We piled in the back of Sean’s ute and he dropped us back at the workshop. The boys were unusually quiet, and so was Livie.

There was no small talk, no banter, just silence.

“See you tomorrow,” Zeke said, hopping into his car.
