“Well?”
“Well maybe I just like seeing Princess pissed off.”
He chuckled, shaking his head.
“Come on,” he slapped me on the thigh and stood up, “I have a present for you.”
“Ohhh,” I said, rubbing my hands together.
Sam took my hand in his and led me through to the back of the workshop.
He opened up the back door and led me out.
I looked around before I stopped.
“If you don’t like it, I can change it back,” he said, judging my expression as I looked at my now purple car. I put my hand over my mouth as I walked around it.
There was a new licence plate attached to the front as well that read A81GA1L.
The purple was deep and matte, dark but with flickers of pearl through it that shone in the sunlight.
“It’s only temporary. It’s just vinyl wrap and it can come off without damaging the original paint. It’s just until things die down.”
I shook my head.
“I can take it off-”
“Sam, shush!” I put out a hand to stop his rambling.
I ran my fingers along the door, feeling the almost velvety material.
“Do you like it?”
“I love it!” I snapped. “Don’t change it back.”
He exhaled and smiled, “I’m sorry I couldn’t get the right shade of purple, I know it’s a little darker than you like but I had to get it done ASAP.”
I shook my head, “it’s perfect.”
“Look, Liv. I wanted to apologise.”
“For?” I frowned at him.
He opened his mouth to speak but we were interrupted by the rumbling sound of a black Rolls Royce as it sped into the parking lot. Sam sighed and went towards it as Antoni got out, slamming the door behind him.
“What the fuck happened, Samuel?”
“I was gonna call you-”
“I just got off the phone with King, one of his men was shot last night and I’m assumingyouknow something about that?”
“He interrupted the operation. He knew who I was.”
Antoni shook his head and rubbed his temples, “you should have told me, Sam. I told him that it wasn’t us, and Ithinkhe bought it, but they’re mad. They saw a white Subaru leaving the scene, which I’m assumingwasthis one,” he pointed towards my car.
“It’s mine, Toni,” I said, stepping towards them.
He sighed, looking between us both, “are you sure you guys know what you’re doing? Do I need to come up with a different plan?”
