Page 61 of Easy Steal

I rolled my eyes and reached up again.

“I can feel it,” I said, reaching out for the spanner.

The alarm signalling that it was lunch time cut off the background music and echoed through the workshop. I heard the clunking of tools onto the ground as Zeke and Danny clocked off for an hour.

“Lunch, boss?” I heard Zeke as he passed us.

“Yeah, in a minute.”

The boys walked into the office to grab their things, and I felt Sammy kick at one of my legs.

Then I was pulled out from under the car once again.

“Dude.”

“Are you not wearing panties either?” he lifted an eyebrow.

“Of course I am!” I snapped, kicking him in the calf.

“I can see up your shorts.”

“Like I said, stop looking.”

I rolled back under, for which I was hoping was the last time, and heard the boys come back into the shop.

“Comin’ Sam?” Danny asked.

“I think I’ll wait for you guys to get back.”

“You sure?” asked Zeke.

“Yeah,” he said, “I think I’m gonna eat out for lunch.”

As he said it, his leg touched mine.

I wasn’t sure if it was deliberate, but I dropped the spanner onto my face.

“Righto,” Danny said.

“Shut the doors, so we can finish this up in peace.”

“No worries,” Zeke chimed, “be back in an hour.”

I heard the boys shut the doors behind them, and the sound of the roller doors falling.

I swallowed a lump in my throat though I wasn’t sure why it was there, something about the tone of Sam’s voice. I wasn’t sure if I was imagining the double meaning behind his words, or if it was maybe just a dangerous case of wishful thinking.

“So,” he said as the doors sealed shut, “when did you stop wearing underwear when you came to work?”

“I’d like to remind you that I don’t actually work here,” I said.

“Answer the question.”

I rolled my eyes though he couldn’t see me.

When did he get so bossy?

He kicked each of my legs, spreading them wide apart.
