“I do, I always have,” I said, tucking my hair behind my ears.

“Then why are you with her?” She snapped, pointing towards the workshop.

I frowned, stepping towards her, “because, I didn’t think that you felt the same way.”

She crossed her arms over herself, looking to the floor.

“I couldn’t wait for you forever, Larissa.”

I shook my head and threw my hands into the air.

“I’m sorry-” I started.

“No, Sam,” she cut me off. “I’m sorry.”

I raised an eyebrow.

“I’m sorry for making you wait, and I’m sorry for not noticing what a great guy you were earlier,” she sighed. “But, I guess that doesn’t matter now. You’ve obviously moved on.”

She turned to open her car door, but my hand caught her by the wrist.

“Larissa, wait.”

She turned slowly, looking up at me through thick lashes.

“What if I haven’t? What if I haven’t moved on?”

She tilted her head to the side, “so, you and Livie aren’t together.”

I shook my head, holding her hands, “no.”

“She means nothing to you?”

I looked to the floor, and opened my mouth to say no - but couldn’t.

She sighed, and turned to leave again, but I pulled her back.

“No,” I said, grabbing her by the cheeks.

She smiled, letting out a deep exhale and leaned her head against my chest. I sighed, wrapping my arms around her and holding her close.

This is what I had been dreaming of for years, having Larissa in my arms.

Livie’s plan had worked.

I should have been happier than I was, but I just felt guilty.

I should never have kissed Livie, never taken it further than what we had planned. It was my fault that things were more complicated now.

Because at first, itwasnothing.

It was a game, a play, a ruse.

But was it still?

Was I really the kind of asshole who leaves a girl mid-fuck to chase after another?

Was Larissa really worth being the kind of guy who did something like that?
