“Bye, Sam.”
She walked towards the door and all I could do was watch as she stepped outside, and the last thing I saw before she left was Evan’s smug grin as she closed the door behind her.

I watched the clock and paced the shop, my phone in hand.
The boys watched me as they all sat around in the white plastic chairs, eating their lunch.
We had finished our preparations.
All guns were loaded and packed into the cars behind the shop, all the plates were replaced with fakes, and we had mapped out our routes.
There was nothing left to distract me from the fact that Livie had left with that piece of shit. I could feel Antoni getting annoyed by my pacing.
My phone rang and it made me jump, and I looked at the name on the screen and sighed.
“Hey Rissa,” I said.
“Hi, baby,” she cooed through the phone. “What are you up to?”
“Nothing. Look, I can’t really talk right now, okay?”
“Uh-”
“I’ll call you later,” I said, and hung up the phone.
I glanced back up at the clock, and it had nearly been an hour since Livie left.
“So you finally got the dream girl, huh?” Antoni asked, leaning back in his chair.
“Yep.”
“Will you sit the fuck down?” he snapped. “You’re making me dizzy watching you walk around in circles.”
I sighed and sat, lacing my fingers behind my head watching the hands of the clock tick by.
My knee bounced, and I could feel the hot rage building in my chest.
Toni sighed and put down his food, leaning towards me.
“Hey,” he snapped his fingers in front of my face. “What’s the matter with you?”
“Livie shouldn’t have left with him.”
“Why?”
“He’s a piece of shit.”
“Livie can handle herself, okay?” Antoni said in a tone that sounded like he were trying to calm a child. “She’s fine.”
I shook my head.
The clock ticked over, and it had been an hour exactly.
I stood up, snatched my car keys from the bench and headed towards the door.
“I’ll be back,” I called over my shoulder.
