“No worries here. I have to head to Hope Hearted then I’ll be at work.”

He hugged me tight and smiled down at me.

“All kidding aside, I’m so happy for you, babe. But if he ever hurts you, you just let me know and I’ll kick his ass.”

I laughed and moved back into Hawk and grinned at Moose.

“You’ll be first in line. See you later, okay?”

He nodded and kissed me on the forehead before moving down the hallway. Hawk just shook his head as we walked back into his room and closed the door behind us.

“Bambi called this morning. I have to check in at Hope Hearted and I told her I would bring the girls some breakfast. I also need to get home and change.”

Hawk grabbed a bag from beside his dresser and handed it to me.

“I had Luna buy the same shit from your house so you can keep it here. And I grabbed your work uniform yesterday because Moose threatened my life and told me I better have you to work on time.”

I laughed as I leaned in and kissed him.

“Thank you. That was very sweet of you. And Moose.”

Hawk chuckled as he moved into the bathroom to start the shower for me.

“Hop in, babe. I’ll go grab some breakfast from downstairs and then we’ll get going.”

He kissed me before shutting the bathroom door. I grabbed my soaps and got in. Washing my hair, I looked and saw he even bought a light pink loofah and razor for me. I smiled as I grabbed them and cleaned myself up.

Turning the shower off, I grabbed two towels, wrapping one around my hair and one around my body. I brushed my teeth, then towel dried my hair and started looking for a brush.

I looked in the bag Hawk gave me and found one. I ran it through my hair and then stepped out of the bathroom.

My mustard yellow uniform was laid out on the bed with my white converse on the floor right beneath it.

The door opened and Hawk came strolling in with two huge bakery bags.

“You can leave your clothes here, baby. I’m doing laundry today, anyway. Got breakfast for the ladies. You ready?”

I couldn’t help but smile at how sweet he was and how nonchalant he was about it. I could see how much he cared about me in the little things he did for me.

“I’m ready, babe.”

Chapter Sixteen

SavannahandIstoppedat Hope Hearted to check on the women and dropped breakfast off. They were all so excited to see Sav and quickly grabbed up all the breakfast goodies.

We were now at the diner, and I sat down at a booth while Sav got to work. She was amazing to watch as she checked in on her regulars and made newcomers feel right at home.

She made everybody so happy, including myself. As I sat there watching her, it suddenly hit me.

I was in love with Savannah Brooks.

This was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I wanted to wake up to her beautiful face every morning, cook dinner with her every night, and worship her body every day.

She made me feel things I had never felt before. I wanted to be a better man for her. To show her every day how much I loved her. I wanted to give her everything in life that she wanted, right down to the tiniest wants.

I looked up to see Savannah, but when I saw her face, a sense of danger washed over me. Her face was pale and eyes big. I turned to see what had gotten her so scared, ready to fight just to be surprised by the police.

I stood and walked over to them. “Morning, officers. What can I help you with today?”
