Lily cleared her throat as Nova turned down the music. Everybody turned and quieted down. I moved closer to Lily and put my arm around her.

She smiled up, and me then turned to our friends and family.

“Thank you all so much for coming out here today. We wanted to just have a small get together before the craziness of Christmas and the big club party. Moose and I have some wonderful news to share with you all…”

I couldn’t help myself and leaned down to kiss her before turning back to everybody.

“We’re having a fucking baby!”

Everybody erupted into cheers as they came over to congratulate us. Maddox and Nova cheered as well, excited to be big siblings to our new little baby.

The night continued on and I looked around to see everybody I cared about in my home together. I knew this was the right time to make my move. I walked over to Lily, who was in the kitchen refilling a plate of cookies.

“Hey, princess. Come over to the tree for a minute. I think there’s a broken ornament.”

Lily turned around. “Shit! Okay, show me which one.”

We moved over to the tree, and I turned and nodded at Maddox. He quietly got everybody together into the living room with us.

Lily was furiously searching all over the tree for the broken ornament. As everybody came into the living room, I bent down on one knee and waited for Lily to turn around.

I pulled out the ring I had custom made for her; a fourteen carat rose gold dahlia diamond engagement ring set with a five carat oval shaped diamond. The setting was a halo of round and pear-shaped diamonds that floated on compass points around the larger diamond. There were small beading lines along the inner band really making the ring something special.

As Lily turned around, she looked down and gasped. I smiled up at her as Nova and Maddox came and stood next to me.

“Lily, you make our family complete. There’s nothing more I want in life than to make you my wife. Will you marry me?”

She looked at everybody around us and then flew into my arms, knocking me to the ground.

“Yes! Oh my god yes!”

I kissed her as we both sat up, Maddox and Nova coming over to hug us as well. Nova wrapped her arms around Lily’s neck, smiling up at her.

“I’m so excited! Can I be your flower girl?”

Lily threw her head back and laughed. “Of course, pretty girl! I wouldn’t dream of asking anybody else.”

We all stood, and everybody came over to congratulate us. Javier and his mom, Rosa, came over and pulled Lily and me both into a hug.

“Oh,mi niña pequeña!I am so thrilled for you! Let me see that ring!”

Lily laughed and put her hand out as Tia Rosa pulled it closer for inspection. Javier looked down at it, then back up at me.

“You did good, homie. Perfect ring for a princess.”

I laughed and wrapped my arm around my woman, kissing the top of her head.

“Only the best for Lily.”

Lily unwrapped herself from me and turned to Javier. He opened his arms, and she ran into them.

“I’m so fucking happy for you, Lil.” He nodded toward me. “Get the fuck in this hug, bro.”

I laughed as he put his arm out and hugged me, patting me on the back.

We all moved away, and I couldn’t help but keep my arm around my woman. Life was fucking good right now.

The night continued on and everybody started to slowly leave. Nova and Maddox were asleep on the floor with their pillows and blankets, and the adults were on the couches. We had the lights down low and all the Christmas lights were on, giving the living room a cozy feel to it.
