I groaned as I sat up and rolled out of bed. Literally rolled out of our bed. I was the size of a house with no end in sight. Putting my hand on my stomach, I patted my large pregnant stomach.

“Any day now, baby girl. Your mama is done being pregnant.”

I slowly shuffled around our bedroom and picked out the most comfortable clothes I could find. Leggings and dresses were all I wore now since I couldn’t fit into any of my nice clothes.

I found a pair of black ones with a flowy white top and slowly put them on. Opening the closet, I slipped into a pair of flats and then headed into the hallway.

Moose was already downstairs with the kids, getting them ready for the day. Today we were heading to the court to make our family official. I was so excited to legally adopt the kids.

I popped into the bathroom and threw some quick makeup on and brushed my hair before heading downstairs. I stood in the doorway of the kitchen and watched Moose and the kids go about their morning.

Moose was already dressed in his best jeans and shirt, with his cut right over it. Maddox was dressed similar, minus the cut. I looked at my sweet Nova and smiled at her princess-like dress. It still felt like a dream that this was my family.

I waddled into the kitchen and kissed both kids on the head and moved to Moose. He leaned down and gave me a sweet kiss.

“How you feelin’, mama?”

I groaned as I sat down on a stool. “I’m never getting pregnant again, that’s for sure. Our baby girl can make her appearance any day now.”

Nova rubbed my tummy, then leaned on it. “Come on, baby sister! I want to meet you and our mommy is all done with you being in there.”

I laughed and stroked her hair. I loved that she and Maddox felt so comfortable calling me mom. It was like the universe always knew we would end up together.

Quickly, I ate the omelet Moose had made for me, and then we were out the door. As we drove to the courthouse, I kept feeling sharp pains in my stomach but passed them off as nerves with a mix of Braxton Hicks.

Anytime I was stressed, they would show up. Taking the water bottle from my purse, I took a sip and sat back.

Moose parked up front and jumped out to open my door and help me out. Nova and Maddox came right over and held my hand, Moose right behind us as we walked into the courthouse.

Everybody smiled as we headed into the room and stood before the judge. He smiled and looked at all four of us.

“Happy to have you all here. You ready for this, Attorney Lavoie?”
