I nodded and sat down on one of the uncomfortable chairs they had in the waiting room. A few minutes later, Thor came walking out with an officer.

“There’s no way I’m releasing him into your custody. He assaulted an officer.”

I sighed and turned to Thor. “What the fuck, man? I thought you said hundred bucks, and we were good to go?”

“That’s what I was told. Now they’re saying it’s being upgraded.”

My phone rang, and I swiped across to answer it.

“Moose. What’s going on?”

My sweet wife was on the other line.

“They won’t release him to me and the charges are being upgraded.”

“Put the officer on.”

I ran my hand down my face. “Princess. You just-”

“Put him on the phone. Now.”

I nodded and handed the phone to the confused officer. He took it and put it up to his ear.

“This is officer Allens. Who am I speaking to?”

I watched as his face turned white and I knew my woman was reaming him a new one.

“Yes, ma’am... I understand.” He looked at Thor. “Yes, that’s what we booked him on. Well, he is an-”

I stifled a laugh behind my hand, and so did Thor.

“Yes. I understand he was off duty. I don’t know the complete story but-”

He turned and faced Thor. “Yes ma’am. Thank you.”

Handing my phone back, he sighed. “Damn, man. That’s your wife?”

“Yup. And she just had a baby three days ago.”

“Good luck with that one.” He turned back to Thor and huffed. “We’re releasing you on personal bail, the one hundred dollars, and you will have your court date mailed to your very scary attorney.”

Thor laughed as he brought him over to the window to fill out the paperwork to release him. Once Thor was done, we headed out to the truck to get back home.

Once we were on the road, I glanced over at him.

“Wanna tell me what’s going on?”

He sighed and leaned on the door. “Fucking women. That’s what. I had to catch feelings for the one fucking person I can’t have. She makes me so goddamn crazy, man.”

“Who is she?”

Thor looked at me. “Daisy.”

I arched my eyebrow. “Daisy? Like…”

“Yup. As in Officer Daisy Holland.”

“Fuck, brother. You had to catch feelings for a cop, huh?”
