“I’m just hopping in and out. I won’t even touch you.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
We both hopped in and quickly showered before getting out to get dressed. I walked to Lily’s room and watched as she sat on the bed to do her make-up.
She looked up at me and smiled. “What?”
“Nothing, princess. Just admiring how fucking pretty you are.”
Lily laughed as she got up and got dressed. She threw on a pair of black leggings and a white long-sleeved shirt, pairing it with a pair of low-top black chucks and a red and black flannel.
“God, it feels so good to dress casually for a day. Don’t get me wrong, I love dressing up for work. But this right here, this is me.”
I walked over and pulled her into my arms, softly kissing her.
“I love you in everything, Lily. Now let’s go before Sav blows up my phone.”
We laughed as we headed downstairs and toward my bike. I handed Lily a helmet and got on. She stood there staring at the helmet, then back up at me.
“What’s wrong?”
“You got me a helmet?”
I laughed and tugged on her hand, pulling her toward the bike.
“Well, I can’t have you riding without protection.”
She leaned down and kissed me. “Thank you.”
“Baby, I would do anything for you.”
Lily hopped on and wrapped her arms around me as I revved the engine and took off down the driveway.
As we reached Main Street, I slowed and pulled into the small alleyway. Lily and I both hopped off and hung out helmets on the bike handles.
We headed up the stairs, and I unlocked the door, heading inside. The sounds of laughter and music filled the apartment as we moved toward the kitchen.
Sav and Hawk were dancing in the kitchen with Nova and Maddox while pancakes cooked next to them.
Lily leaned into me as we watched them dance around and set the table. Nova finally saw us and ran over, pulling us both into a hug.
“Daddy! Lily! You’re here! I made you a special breakfast!”
I kneeled down and wrapped my little girl in my arms.
“Oh, baby girl thank you! Let’s go eat, I’m starving.”
Hawk winked as I stood up. “I bet you are.”
Lily blushed, and Sav smacked him in the chest.
“Behave yourself.”
I laughed and shook my head, grabbing Lily’s hand and pulling her along with me. We sat down at the table while Maddox and Nova placed food on everybody’s plates. Hawk and Sav sat down right after my kids did.
We were all eating when both Sav and Lily’s phones rang. They both excused themselves from the table to answer them.
I looked at Hawk, and he shrugged. “Hope Hearted is my bet. Sav has been worried about this young girl.”
