“Because she misses you too.”
Lies.
More fucking lies.
Just as I’m about to drop him back to his feet, Danny knocks on the glass. With hope in his eyes, he stares at his mother. She turns her head and their eyes lock. He waves at her and she just stares at him the same way she stared at me…
Like he’s a stranger.
Like he’s fucking nothing.
My son’s heartbreak is too much for me to witness and I spin him, away from the glass—away from the mother who forgot him.
“I’ve got to get out of here,” I tell Wolf, Pipe, Layla & Lacey as I set Danny on his feet. I look at Pipe. “Can you take him home with you?”
“Whatever you need,” he says, looking towards his wife. “Lexi will be happy to have someone to hang out with, no?”
“Of course,” Layla adds.
“Where are you going?” Wolf questions.
“Anywhere but here,” I whisper hoarsely as my maker whispers in my ear, deciding my fate.
Come to me, Parrish.
Come home.
