She wraps her arms around my neck and pulls my lips to hers.
“I love you, Ghost,” she whispers. My hands circle her wrists as I return the kiss, slowly prying her lips open as I slide my tongue over hers.
It takes a fearless woman to open her heart and soul to a broken man. But a broken man—once his pieces are glued together—will give more than his heart and soul. He’ll give her his eyes, show her the world through them.
After all, life is meant to be lived in color.

I tightenthe silencer on my gun and look up at Maverick. He claps a hand on my shoulder and jumps down from the back of the truck. Fastening the straps of his bulletproof vest, he meets my gaze.
“How we doing this?”
“Isn’t that your call?”
“Not this time,” he returns. Ink hands him a magazine and pulls the round over his head, letting it rest on his shoulder. “This is your win, my man. We’re just here for kicks.”
Right.
Rolling my neck, I drop my ski mask over my face.
“Ink and Hawk, you two take the front. Tie up the clerk out and lock the door. Capone, and Wiz, you go in through the basement.” I pause bringing my eyes back to Mav. “You and me we go through the back door.”
Ralphie’s office is in the back of building.
“Let’s fucking go.”
And just like that it’s game-fucking-on.
We race to the dry cleaners, masks down, guns cocked. Ink and Hawk walk right through the front door like they own the place. Hawk pulls the clerk working the register over the counter and presses his gun to his temple. There’s a seamstress working that none of us banked on, but Ink takes her and ties her up. They kill the cameras with a shot to the lens and that’s our cue.
Mav shoots the lock off the back door and I kick it open.
We barely make it through the door before the gunfire breaks out.
“I got this,” Mav shouts over the gunfire. “You go get the cunt that fucked with your girl.” He doesn’t wait for me to respond as his finger tightens around the trigger and he sprays Ralphie’s men with bullets.
One body drops.
Then another.
But Mav keeps shooting, filling bodies and walls with holes.
I turn and hurry down the hallway. Finding Ralphie’s office, I shoot the lock off and open the door, but as soon as I do, I’ve got six guns pointed at me.
“Welcome,” Ralphie croons.
One against six.
Horrible odds.
But I came to win so, I hope you put your money on the underdog.

I stare over the open grave, watching as Hawk douses Ralphie’s body in gasoline. He took three shots to the brain and another to the heart, but before that, I made him watch his men drop like flies and I took all ten of his fingers. I would’ve taken his legs like he took Oreo’s but time was of the essence.
“Here,” Mav says, handing me a book of matches. I look at him. The man saved my ass today, came charging into Ralphie’s office just in the nick of time.
