Page 74 of Dirty Deeds

Since we returned from the Satan’s Knights safe house, Danica has spent most nights at my place. She only goes home to do laundry. It’s fucking ridiculous.

“You threw out your birth control yesterday. Since then, I’ve come in you six times. Maybe it’s time you move in with me.”

She turns in my arms, her eyes locking with mine as she tries to hide her smile.

“We’re moving really quickly, aren’t we?”

I laugh. “It’s a little late to be having second thoughts.”

“I’m not having second thoughts. Nothing in my life has ever felt more right.”

I bend to kiss her, pausing before my lips touch hers. “So is that a yes?”

She smiles. “It’s a yes.”

Then I claim her mouth in a searing kiss.

“For fuck’s sake get a room.”

Ah, there she is.

Tearing my mouth away from Danica’s I turn to find Ro sliding onto the barstool beside us. “I need a shot,” she announces, pointing a finger at Danica. “You need one too.”

Danica winks at me and I release her.

“One shot,” I warn.

“I know, I know. You have a date with my pussy.”

“God, I love the sound of that.”

“I’m going to throw up,” Ro interjects. “Like literally.”

“Why don’t I let you two do that shot.”

I stand from the stool and press a kiss to the top of Danica’s head. Across the room I spot Finley and decide to make my way over to her. I haven’t had a chance to properly thank her for all she did.

When I reach her, I realize she’s not alone. Charlotte and Schwartz are sitting at the table with her, along with a guy I haven’t been formally introduced to but know is a friend of Uncle Jack’s.

“Excuse me,” I say, clearing my throat as my eyes land on Finley. “Ms. Banks, can I have a word?”

She eyes me curiously, but obliges, standing and stepping away from the table.

“I just wanted to come over and thank you for all you did for me. I know I wasn’t the easiest client.”

She flashes me a grin. “That’s only because you had trouble following directions when it came to our witness.” She glances over at the bar, her eyes landing on Danica. “It all worked out, though.”

“Yeah, I guess it did.”

Her gaze cuts back to me.

“You have my number, but I hope you don’t ever have to use it again. You’re a good guy. It’d be a shame if you wound up being a pain in the ass like your old man.”

At the mention of my father, my eyes scan the bar in search for him. I find him at the end of the bar, Maria’s arms wound around his neck. A smile on his face.

“Eh, he’s not that bad.”

He’s actually one of the good ones.
