Unlocking the trunk with a bow, I reveal her surprise to her.
The trunk has been turned into the perfect cozy spot for us, lined with a spare duvet to lay on. The new blankets I bought laid out for us, and the snacks were already waiting for us.
“Do you like it?” I ask her after a beat of silence, terrified she’s going to say she hates it.
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry. I love it, Sebastian, so much. I’m just in awe, it looks exactly like the pins on my Pinterest,” she wraps her hands around my waist, reaching up on her tiptoes to kiss the corner of my lips.
Making a mental note to check on that later, not to try to gain brownie points on future dates or anything.
“Get comfortable Sunshine. I’m going to grab more snacks from the stand over there,” I gesture over my shoulder towards the stand just off in the distance, “What drink do you want?”
“Coke?”
“I can do that. Now get comfortable and I’ll be right back.”
Pulling her in for a quick kiss, I pull back before my semi-hard cock turns to steel and extract myself from her arms.
This queue is taking forever.
It didn’t even seem that busy before I got here, but now I can’t even see the car from where I’m standing.
I can’t stand being away from Autumn when I can’t physically see her, the antsy feeling taking over my entire nervous system.
Tapping my foot restlessly as a family of nine stands ahead of me as they place a massive order. A young girl no older than ten turns around and smiles up at me. Her braids bounce as she bounces on her toes excitedly as she beams up at me with her toothless smile.
“I’m getting cotton candy!” She announces with a squeal.
“Are you? Cotton candy is really good,” I reply, forcing enthusiasm into my tone when every part of me is screaming to get eyes on Autumn.
“Are you going to get some?” The little girl asks me, her eyes wide with excitement.
“I wasn’t going to, but do you think my girlfriend would like some?”
“Yes! Get her the blue one!”
“Ok. I’ll get her the blue one,” I chuckle at her, her happiness infectious as she claps her hands.
“Come on B. The movie is starting soon,” the little girl's mom says, her hand outstretched for her to take.
“Bye!” She shouts as she runs to her mom’s side.
I wave back saying goodbye, as I’m finally able to move up and place my order. Making sure to grab the blue cotton candy.
Making my way through the crowd back to the car, I squeeze past groups of families trying my hardest not to drop anything. My arms overflowing with two tubs of popcorn, blue cotton candy, and two large cokes. I wonder if I’ve gone overboard, that we’ll never be able to finish it all but then decide I don’t care. Autumn deserves to be spoiled, to get to do all the fun stuff you should do for your first drive-in movie.
Breathing out a sigh of relief as the car comes back into view. Autumn's frame sits as still as a statue as I approach.
The antsy feeling smacks me full force as I get closer and see fear written all over her face, her fingers gripping onto a piece of paper. I have to resist the urge to drop everything I’m carrying and run to her, instead, I force myself to keep calm as I set the snacks down carefully.
Climbing into the trunk, narrowly avoiding hitting my head as I crawl up the covers to Autumn.
“Sunshine?” I call carefully, trying my best not to startle her.
“I thought it was a receipt. There was paper between the snacks, and I thought it was a receipt. I was going to put it back in the bag, but it wasn’t a receipt,” she rambles, the paper still clutched in her grip as she turns to look at me, her eyes wide with fear.
“What was it, Sunshine?” I ask her.
She wordlessly hands the paper to me, her hands trembling as she does.
