Page 24 of Shar: A Woman Alone

“Who the fuck does that?” Iask, shocked because come on, that’s a shit of a thing to fake.

“Well, her friend’s sisterdoes,” Stan chuckles before continuing to speak. “I’ll keep monitoring, Crack, but I honestly don’t think we have a trafficking issue.”

“Okay, thanks Stan. It’s goodto know and let’s hope it was just some crazy bitch and a couple of men thatwere assholes.” Cutting the call, I look out of the window and wonder what sortof a woman would do that, when trafficking is real, and there are women outthere being taken from the street against their will, and sadly are never seenagain.

I need to follow Sharp’sorders now and speak to Psycho and Porky. They have helmet speakers so itdoesn’t matter if they are on the road. I’m hoping they’ll come back as theyare great brothers. I don’t know where they were heading, or how long they weregoing to be on the road, so I decide to send a voice message first.

Crack,“Can you guys talk?”

Psycho,“Give us a minute to find a stop area.”

Waiting for them to call me,I rest my head back on the seat and close my eyes. It’s been one fuck of a dayand it’s not half the day gone yet.

A few minutes later my phonerings, and I quickly pick up the call. “Yeah, can you talk now?”

Psycho responds, “Yeah, weare both here. What’s goin’ on?”

“We had to eliminate Outlawthis morning. An assassination attempt was made and you know the law when itcomes to threatening to kill the President of the Club. I know you wanted awayfor good, but Sharp wants you both home, to settle in with us, be the brothersyou both are meant to be. We have businesses opening and things are lookinggood. Oh, he made you nomads, too. He said he’s not letting you leave thebrotherhood, but you can have time to get your heads right.” I chuckle as Ihear Porky cursing in the background. Psycho obviously has the call on speaker.

“I never liked Outlaw and Iwish we hung around long enough to see his fucking end,” Porky states, thencontinues. “We may come back if the incentive is right, but right now we arehaving this road trip. We are good with nomad status for now.”

“Shar is looking at MainStreet, checking out the businesses to see if there is anything we canintroduce for the club and the town’s benefit. Zara is going to train as a hairstylist and there is a salon in town that is an idea, but as yet, Shar hasn’t givenus anything else to look at. We have the garage thanks to her, and the brothersare starting work on getting that operational.”

“That’s good, Crack, butstill nothing that will pull us back at this point. Keep us informed if abusiness opportunity arises, and if we like it, we’ll head back to speak withSharp. In the meantime, we are continuing our road trip,” Psycho says, and fuckme, cuts the damn call. Well, I suppose that’s his way of saying we’ve talkedabout it enough. Now, I’ll inform Pres before I head out to the strip club andsee if Shar has the cleaning issue under control.

Two hours later, I’m standinginside the strip club watching a new pole being fitted. The guys are doing agreat job of not messing up the ceiling or the flooring. Shar walks over to meand leans her shoulder against my arm as she sighs. Looking down at her, Iraise a questioning eyebrow.

“I’m about ready to get ridof one of the dancers. Fantasia is driving me crazy. She has a complaint aboutevery fricking thing.”

I kiss the top of Shar’s headas I wrap an arm around her shoulders. “We’ll deal with it. What do you want todo?”

“Let’s speak to her together,so she knows it’s serious. Then if she keeps it up, I’ll get rid of her.”

“Okay, that’s fine by me. Thepole isn’t taking long to get fixed up. Do you think the women are going to begood with it?” I ask, because honestly, it can’t be easy climbing up and downthat thing.

“I have a pole dance womancoming to teach them. If they don’t make the grade, that’s okay, as long as thecustomers still come to watch their strip routines.” Shar is all business, andI hope she stays, but I have to agree with Sharp, she has a restless feel abouther.

Stepping through to thechanging rooms behind Shar, I’m surprised to see how clean they look. There areno clothes thrown around, the mirrors don’t have any G-strings hanging fromthem either. Yeah, Shar has already made a difference, and a good difference atthat.

“Fantasia, a word,” I statefirmly.

“Hi, Crack, how are you?”

“Don’t start that shit,” Sharsnaps, and I give her a look that shows how amused I am.

“Okay, let’s get down tobusiness. You are moaning and causing drama at all ends, so you have twochoices. You either get with the program, which is the changes being made, oryou get the fuck gone. It’s that simple.” I lift an eyebrow at Fantasia and wait, but knowing full well she’ll not leave.

Shar is tapping her foot, arms folded, and frowning. Waiting not so patiently for Fantasia’s reply. I’mnot surprised when she taps Fantasia on the chest while asking, “Well, it’sdecision time. So, what’s it to be?”

“I’ll stay and get with theprogram.”

“Thought so. Now, get towhatever you should be doing before I make the decision you don’t want me tomake.” I watch as she turns and scurries to her locker and starts rootingaround.

Following Shar out of thedressing room and to the bar, I take a seat on a bar stool and look around. Theplace is looking much cleaner, and it nearly answers the question I’m going toask. “How are you getting along with the cleaning crew?”

Shar holds her hand out andgets Chuck's attention. “Can we have two coffees, please?”

“Of course,” Chuck replies ashe walks away from the bar area, and I notice not a word of complaint. He couldsay he is a bartender, not a coffee maker.
