“I’m always serious, Miss Pettigrew. You’ll eventually come to realize that, too.”

I rolled my shoulders. “So, what are you going to do to me if you’re not going to kill me or ransom me off?”

His eyes drifted down my body. “My shirts really do look good on you.”

My head fell back. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“What?”

I sighed. “You’re going through all of this just so I’ll sleep with you, aren’t you?”

“Trust me, it won’t take that much work.”

My head snapped back up. “You’ll have to tie me down to get within two feet of what you want from me.”

At the drop of my words, he moved like lightning. Before I could blink, I was on my back with his hand wrapped around my throat. My eyes bulged with fear. My body trembled at his mercy. And as his fingertips danced up the inside of my thigh, I tried clamping them together.

But, his knee prevented that from happening.

“What you don’t understand, Miss Pettigrew, is that I have plans for you. I have, ever since I laid eyes on you. And when we’re done? When I know you’re ready to be rid of this basement? I won’t have to force you to do anything.”

I growled up at him. “Over my dead body.”

He leaned in closer, nuzzling his nose against the shell of my ear as he whispered. “You might fight now, but that will eventually die down. And when it does, you’ll want all of me by the time I go to send you home.”

I felt his fingertips hovering just beyond my pussy lips and it angered me how much I wanted him to touch me. That devilish grin of his flashed itself at me before he brushed his nose along my cheek. Across my jawline.

Down the pulse point of my neck.

“Teo?” I whispered.

And just as quickly as he had pinned me down, he was standing upright. Leaving me sprawled out on the bed with a dirty, abandoned plate.

“Get some rest, Miss Pettigrew,” he said as he walked toward the door, “you’re going to need your strength.”

He was right, too. I would need my strength.

To break the hell out of this place for good.
