I take in her stunning face, perfectly aglow, and for the first time that I can ever remember, wetness tracks down my cheeks.
Her own tears shine back at me in the limited light from the front window.
“You can’t know that already,” I say, more in awe than argument.
She smiles. “I can’t. It’s just a feeling.”
“A boy,” I whisper. “A cradle.” We stare at each other in a short silence, a myriad of emotions dancing between us. “You’re going to be an amazing mother.”
More fat tears fall from her eyes. “And you’re going to be an amazing father.” She grips my face in her hands and kisses me deeply, our salty tears mingling between us.
Every day with her only gets better. Only lets in more love. And now, we get to grow our family together on this stunning piece of land where we’re building our life together.
