Chapter Thirty-One
Jordyn’s scent still clings to me as we walk through the door of the café. It doesn’t take long for Roman to open his big mouth. “We were beginning to think you weren’t going to show up.” I don’t miss the cool stare that Cammy directs our way.
“If I knew you were going to be here, we wouldn’t have,” I quip and reach over to grab Jordyn, who has taken a step away from me. Getting her snug to my side, I bend my head down to her ear. “Breathe, Jor.” She looks up at me then, gives me a light smile.
“I'm breathing.” And she is going to stay that way if I have anything to say about it.
We settle into the table after getting our plates. The laughter around the table grows, and I don’t miss the moment Jordyn relaxes. I watch her as she carries on a conversation with Brook, who mostly talks. “Brood.” My name is called after the door to the café slams shut. My head goes up to see Show walking in with Piner behind him.
Pushing my chair away from the table, I don’t miss Jordyn’s body going rigid. “I’ll be right back Jor,” I promise her, bending down to kiss her temple. Show waits for me to get closer before pulling open the door for me to step out. “Get on with it.” I know damn well whatever they both came here for isn’t good news. Otherwise, they would have waited for me to get to the clubhouse.
“You’ve been named.” Not like I didn’t know it was coming. “Rock called, couldn’t get ahold of you,” he adds, “said someone was sniffing around in Cental, at Buggs’ store there.” Fuck.
“She okay?”
“Yeah. she’s good. Her and Kimi were both there at the time. Gin had Jay and a prospect there watching over them. They didn’t try anything. Rico has that place stocked full of cameras. He was able to identify them before they even left. Confirmed they work for Butch.”
“Where are they now?”
“Left town before the brothers could catch up with them.”
“If they found the club there, it won’t be long before they get here. Time to lock shit down. Tell the boys we’ll have church in thirty. I’ll drop Jordyn and Kasin off at home so she can get packed up.” Show nods his head and takes off to his bike along with Piner. I don’t wait for them to leave before I go back inside.
Jordyn already knows something is up when I step inside and lock eyes with her. I stand at the table, hating that I’m about to disrupt everyone’s breakfast. My hand slaps down three times to get everyone’s attention. “Finish up here. We have church in thirty. Have your women get ready for lockdown,” I tell my brothers at the table who don’t waste a second following orders. Everyone gets up suddenly, abandoning their plates as they go.
“He found us, didn’t he?” Jordyn comes to my side. I don't miss the fact she is holding Kasin in her arms.
“I'm bringing you home. I need you to get Kasin and yourself packed up for at least a week.”
“A week?” she squeaks.
“Just thinking ahead, baby. Come on.”
