“That’s enough share time,” Sage interrupts, standing up. “You ready?” he asks his wife.
“Well no—”
“Time to go, Brook,” Sage declares before leaning in and whispering something in her ear, which causes Brook to turn red. He pulls back just enough to look at her. She nods and bites at her bottom lip before standing up.
“It was nice to meet you, Jordyn. I hope to see more of you. Come on Halley.” The little girl is reluctant to leave Kasin behind, holding his hand and crying the biggest tears.
“If you two don’t mind, I can take her for the night. I believe Kasin is staying with me?” A tall curvy woman comes to Brood’s side. I don’t miss the moment she places her hand on Brood’s shoulder.
“Yeah. He still is,” Brood confirms. As I sit and watch the exchange, I try to find the similarities between the woman and Kasin but find none.
“Really? That would be amazing. Are you sure?” Brook responds as Sage pulls her tight to his side.
“Someone is asking to watch our daughter. That is something you don’t question. You just accept they are crazy and hand her over.” Sage laughs at the last part. “Thanks Cammy.”
“No problem.” Cammy strokes her perfectly manicured hand over Halley’s head then Kasin’s.
“Here is her bag.” Brook hands over a pink shoulder bag with the name Halley scrawled across it. “Thank you so much.” The couple says their goodbyes to their daughter, who barely notices them leave.
“Looks like I’m going to have a full house.” Cammy laughs.
“His stuff is out in the truck.” Brood stands as he talks to Cammy. “Hey Kas, you ready to go to Cam’s?” The little boy, still attached to Halley, nods one quick snap of a nod and gets down from his seat. He then reaches his empty hand up to his dad, my heart squeezes in my chest at the action. They walk hand in hand, Brood and the two children, right out through the double doors, my eyes trailing them the whole way.
