My questioning look prompts her to continue, “Dominic won’t text you, but that will help once he is dead...” She pauses momentarily, as if carefully considering her next words. “And I want to ensure you stay completely clear of any involvement.”
The thought of thrusting her against the window and pulling up her already too short dress to fuck her is so strong I know she can see it in my eyes.
To my surprise, she doesn’t retort with a snarky remark, just gives me a grin.
“Do not come to save me, because Kai, I do not need it. They do, and all you will do, is save them. Which they do not deserve.”
I may be in love with this woman, but I’m not even ready to admit that to myself.
“You have given me what I need…” Her eyes trail down to our hands, and she licks her lips, “For now.”
As she gradually reclines, withdrawing her hand and folding her arms under her chest, she grants me the floor with a meaningful silence.
How am I supposed to follow that? She practically delivered a battle speech, and honestly, all I want to do is take those cherry lips of hers with mine.
So fucking perfect, I swear it.
I take a deep breath, “I don’t like it because anything can go wrong. What if more of the five show up? What if they overpower you? What if—”
“They can do no more than they already have. I will survive, as I have before you ever showed up with that dumb ass face of yours.” Her chin tilts downward as she smiles. “Worry about me, but don’t get in my fucking way.”
“What did I tell you about telling me what not to do, little demon?” I provide a toothy grin, indication that I’m not going to be shoving my cock in her mouth for doing it again. “Just so you know though,” I lean back, watching her assess me, “I will kill them all if they take you from me.”
Her lips part, but before she can utter a word, I’m already up from my seat and in front of her. “I have no doubt you’ll be successful, Xera,” I interject, “I’m just letting you know that your revenge will happen no matter what.”
She slips gracefully from her chair, standing before me with her chest pressed against mine. “You’re so—” As she lifts to her tiptoes, I lean forward, eager to catch her next words. ”—dramatic.” Her tongue flicks my lips teasingly before she moves around me, leaving me rooted in place.
Fucking Beyond, maybe I am ready to admit it to myself.

Sometimes I wonder where men get the audacity.
I’m barely five steps into this massive mansion when I’m bombarded by pigs. One of them even pulls out his wallet and hands it to me, assuming that would be enough. Another grabs me and physically begins cradling me up the stairs.
I understand it, truly. I’m dressed to attract attention, and with how stunning Sydni made me look tonight, I’d have a hard time keeping my hands off myself. But Belial himself, they were treating me like a piece of meat instead of showing me any respect.
Not that I really care for respect, but… that isn’t the point.
I can’t leave Kairhyse out of the equation; after all, he bought the dress. This morning when I woke up, it was hanging on my bedroom door. While that was weird and unnerving, I couldn’t deny just how beautiful it was. The event called for white, and I absolutely hate that it did. However, I can’t stand out, and as much as it detests me to follow that request, I did.
That being said, I couldn’t have appreciated Kairhyse more than the moment I saw the dress. It wasn’t exactly white, but more of a light shade of blue, close enough not to make me stick out more.
The dress is a halter style, with a deep v neckline that nearly brushes against my belly button. The curve of my breasts are on full display, along with my waist as the dress cuts inward and then back around my hips. From the chest area, it is pulled around the back sothat it stays in place, and if I dance, my nipples aren’t on display for everyone to see. When I walk, the slit up the middle shows off my legs, which have garters on them.
I move swiftly through the grand entry of the two-story mansion, the golden chandelier above me illuminating the darkened room. The walls are nearly black, adorned with paintings of people lining them, all the way back toward the grand yard where the party is really at.
I’m unmistakably out of place compared to all the other women here. You know that look of wealth people exude? Well, that’s definitely not me. Most females here are blonde and likely sit under a tanning bed daily. My jet-black hair that is in a lose braid contrasts sharply against my pale skin that doesn’t take to the sun’s rays. I don’t belong here, but the males don’t seem to mind.
“I think fate is giving us a second chance.” Just as I’m about to break through to the backyard, a voice that I recognize calls my attention. It’s Kit Morrison, stepping to my side and grabbing hold of my hand. He reeks of far too much cologne, and I nearly choke as I take a deep breath.
“Kit,” I purr, making him step closer. “You know, leaving me to an abusive ex like that isn’t very short-king behavior.” Even though I sound like I’m flirting, it pisses him off, which is exactly what I want. He’s not my target tonight, and I need him to fuck off.
His nose twitches. “With that tongue, it’s no wonder he hits you. I’m sure that’s where you got the bruise around your eye.” As if shocked, I bring my free hand to my cheek. “You did a shit job of covering it up, bitch.” With an actual huff, he storms away.
I’d bashed my face into the railing at my apartment before Sydni did my makeup. I’d normally heal that pretty quickly, but because it’s been three weeks since my last feed, it will at least take another two, possibly three hours for it to be completely gone.
