And as I would a million times in the future.
“Of course,” I whispered. “It's the perfect timing. I'm in.”
“I can't believe this is happening.”
“Well, believe it because it is. It's totally happening. And I'm totally here for it.”
She lifted her head and planted a kiss on my lips. She silenced me instantly. She took away every word I had planned to say, everything I might have expressed to show her my emotions. But somehow, she just knew what I felt. She knew by touch and touch alone.
I held her chin as I kissed her and held her delicate hands.
When I pulled away, I smiled. “When should I move in?”
“You can move in as soon as you want. I'll make space.”
“I can't wait, Clara. I'm so happy.”
She grinned wide. “Me, too.”
I kissed her once more and then returned to my side of the table. The excitement of the evening had stolen the rest of my appetite. But that didn't matter. What mattered was sitting right in front of me. All that would ever matter would be her.
CHAPTER34
Clara
I stoppedat the cafe on the way to work. Jen was already waiting for me at her favorite table in the back near the counter. She waved when I walked in.
I hopped up to the table and sat down, practically bouncing in my seat. I rested my arms on the table and leaned against them. But I couldn't stop my legs from shaking. My happiness was overflowing.
“Wow, did you already get caffeine?” she teased. “Maybe I should tell them to cancel your order. We don't want you bouncing into another dimension.”
I shook my head. “Nah, it's not caffeine.”
“Did you take a new vitamin or something?”
“Nope.”
“Alright, spill it. Don't keep me waiting.”
I grinned ear-to-ear. “You must have a joking gene in your family or something.”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
I stared at her, confused. “Levon didn't tell you?”
“Tell me what?”
“Oh, wow. You two are supposed to be close.”
She laughed. “Come on, Clara! You know I've been busy with the new house and new husband. Stop keeping me on my toes. I want to know!”
“We're moving in together.”
“Oh, my God.” She took my hands. “Clara!”
“I know, right? It's about damn time.”
“I can't believe he never mentioned it. What a dork! I'll have to tease him about it later. When did this happen? What did I miss? Details, woman—give me details!”
