EDEN:
I always wanted a stalker ;)
I can’t stop the noise that escapes as I dump my clothes on the floor, turning the shower on. It’s a mixture of a groan, a growl of frustration, and a bemused laugh.
MURPH:
It’s a good thing you’re cute.
If I give him an inch, he’ll take a mile. If I give him all my inches… how much will he take?
I’ve never been so worried—for himandfor myself—and yet so unstoppably, irresistibly turned on. I have to admit it to myself: Eden gets under my skin, and I like it.
“God help me,” I moan, tossing my phone down on the counter as steam wafts out of the shower stall.
There’s something endearing about his haplessness. It’s because he’s so earnest. He really wants to do things the right way, but he just doesn’t think first.
Bzzzz!
My heart thunders in my ears as I glance down at the screen.
EDEN:
I take that as a confession of guilt, Mr. Stalker Pirate
And thanks for the compliment ;)
Can’t wait to see you, sexy.
“Fuuuuck,” I breathe out softly. Heat prickles through me—intense and impossible to ignore. I haven’t felt like this in a long time.
Looks like the tide won’t be the only thing rising during our date.
MURPH:
Me too. Just getting ready now, see you soon
My reflection is disappearing in the steamy bathroom mirror, but I can’t miss the hope shining in my eyes like a freaking lighthouse.
I’m in deep, deep trouble.
ChapterThree
EDEN
Oh,shit. He’s almost here.
Murph’s boat dipped out of sight a minute ago amongst the crowd of moored boats, so I’ve been listening to the engine noise to figure out how close he is.
The louder it is, the more on-edge I feel. And right now, I’m so giddily nervous that I might just faint. But the afternoon is sunny and clear and perfect… and a guy is picking me up for our first date.
How good is my life?
I don’t even remember the last time I had that thought. I’m smiling even bigger now, so much that my cheeks hurt.
Murph’s not far away now. Twenty feet away? Maybe fifty? Distance isn’t my strong suit. It’s close enough that I can see he’s all dressed up.
He’s wearing a navy button-up shirt with a cream print on it, and even his jeans look like they’ve been ironed. It suits him just as well as the warm, practical workwear I saw him in before.
