No, Mateo. Keep it G-rated.Or at least PG.
I switched my grip on her hand to signal a turn, and she moved with me like we’d been dancing together all our lives.
“Beautiful,” I said.
Her cheeks pinked. “Only because you’re doing all the work.”
“No, mi amor. You’re doing it, too. And in heels.”
“What?” Uncertainty creased her brow.
“Don’t look down. You’re doing great. Now we twirl.”
I shifted my grip and led her into the spin, then I spun. I twirled her back, tucking her back into my front, and groaned into her ear. “Mimi, I’m going to die. Right here on the dance floor.”
“Oh, no! Did I step on your foot?” Her steps faltered.
“No.” I spun her back around to face me. “Miguelito’s ass is smaller than mine. There’s hardly room in these pants for me, and no extra room for the hard-on you’re giving me.”
“I love your ass in those pants.” Her grin was wicked. “I’ll love it even more out of them.”
“Mimi,” I groaned. “You’re murdering me.”
“Really?” She brushed her bare thigh against my pants. “I thought I was your vida. Your life.”
“You’re all of it. My life, my heart, my love.”
She moved closer to me. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that.”
“You will.” I placed our joined hands behind her neck, and we pressed together. “I’ll tell you every day.”
“I guess I have a track record of needing to be reminded.”
I chucked. “I guess you do.”
“Mateo.” She planted her feet, stopping our dance. “I will never forget you again. I’ll never forget tonight.”
I was already warm under my tux from the dance, but her words made happiness bubble hot like tía’s chocolate in my chest.
“Let’s get out of here.” I dropped my hand to her hip and guided her off the dance floor toward the exit.
“Are we finally going to the green room?” Her lips twisted up into a sexy smirk.
I mirrored her expression, already planning the kisses I was going to lay on those lips. Later.
“We’re going home so I can show you a truly unforgettable night.”
“No.” She dug her heels into the carpet. “I have to stay until the end.”
“Mimi, you’ve put your heart and soul into this. Everyone will understand if you take one night off. You deserve it. And I’d like you to spend it with me.”
Her lush mouth turned serious. “Not just one night, Mateo. All the nights.”
“Absolutely, mi sol. And all the days, too.”
“So you understand why I have to stay, right? This gala is a commitment, just like I’m making to you.”
I groaned. “Why do you have to be right all the time?”
