“It’s what we do,” he said with a shrug.
Hayley went forward and hugged him and he chuckled and hugged her back. “Aw, hell,” he said grinning.
“Thank you so much for everything,” she echoed my sentiment and Dragon tipped her chin.
“Yer a good girl,” he said with a nod. “You two do everything I would do tonight, y’ hear?”
“Yes, sir.”
We watched him trail up the side of the house along the driveway whistling and Hayley looked around the yard.
“Nope, I know that look,” I declared.
She laughed lightly as I bodily steered her in the direction of the back door.
“Okay, okay!” she cried.
“Out of sight, out of mind,” I said.
“So what next?” she asked.
“Next, I get you out of that dress and do to you what I’ve been dying to do all day.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah, really.”
I walked her up the back steps and into the back door, taking her directly across the kitchen to the stairs of the second floor. She didn’t resist me, in fact, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say she was just as eager as I was to get out of these clothes to slip into each other.
We went into her – excuse me, our bedroom and I have to say, I loved this woman. She was neat, organized, and fastidiously clean like me. Everything in its place, bed made every morning, room so perfect it looked like it belonged in a magazine spread and that no one actually lived in it, which was sort of the case, honestly. I mean, she slept more in her studio loft than up here anymore but that was okay. At least until the baby came.
“You look like your mind is going a mile a minute,” she said, fingertips touching either side of my face.
“I’m nervous,” I realized with a start.
She laughed and asked, “How could you be? It’s not like this is our first time…”
“Yeah, but it is… I mean, you’re my wife.”
She smiled and closed her eyes like what I’d said was the sweetest music she’d ever heard.
“Say that again.”
“What? That you’re my wife?”
She let out the most contented and happy sigh that it felt like liquid gold ran through my veins. Warmth suffused me inside and out and I felt my spirits lift.
“My wife,” I whispered gently and lowered my mouth to hers, my hands smoothing over the light, crisp cotton of her dress, drawing her into my arms. She kissed me and it was everything I had ever ached for. A kiss that said I belonged but made me feel it down to my bones.
A kiss that told me I love you, I want you, and most importantly I need you…
I hadn’t realized how important it was for me to be needed until I thought I wasn’t. So many things got turned upside down and inside out when we’d lost Cell and I was just now beginning to realize for myself that Hayley wasn’t a bridge between me and him, she had been a bridge out and away from him…
One that I’d needed for a long time.
I held her close and eased the zipper to her dress slowly down her spine. The fabric parted and she gave a little whimper of relief. I took my time, running my hands over her soft skin and kneading her lower back which was probably killing her after all day in heels.
She took a slight step back, breaking the kiss and let the dress fall and pool at her feet. It was one of the most erotic things I’d ever seen, all that perfect white cotton whispering down and revealing her soft smooth skin. I felt my already hot and hard cock throb behind my zipper by way of response and there was only one thing for me to do.
