Shrugging, she replied, “I don’t know. Kinda like a stretching one.”

“Was it from arching your back a minute ago?” Bennett asked.

“I don’t think so. It’s in my stomach.”

“Fucking hell. You’re in early labor,” Theo pronounced.

The three of us jerked our gaze to Theo’s on the laptop screen. “No, it can’t be,” Vivian protested.

“Cramps are part of early labor.”

“She only had one pain,” I argued.

Vivian sucked in a breath. After pinching her eyes shut, she replied, “Make that two,” she gritted out.

“But she isn’t due for two more weeks,” I said.

“Yeah, well, babies don’t give two shits about due dates,” Bennett replied.

“All right, let’s talk about other early labor signs,” Theo suggested.

“Okay,” Vivian replied.

“Have you had a bloody show?” Theo asked.

Wrinkling my nose, I asked, “What the fuck is that?”

Theo rolled his eyes. “Didn’t you read the baby books?”

I grimaced. “The vagina pictures did me in.”

“You’re impossible.”

“I was afraid I’d never be able to look at Viv’s pussy the same way again.”

Vivian snorted. “I have a feeling it’s going to be worse in person.”

With a groan, I lamented, “Oh God, it’s going to be like my favorite place to eat burning to the ground, isn’t it?”

Bennett smacked the back of my head. “Get a grip.”

“Sorry.”

“Do you think you lost your mucus plug?” Theo asked.

A sheepish look flashed on Vivian’s face. “There might’ve been a little discharge in my panties last night.” At Theo’s groan, she said, “I just thought it was hormone changes.”

“Right. The best course of action is to start timing the pains.

“Should we get her to the hospital?” I asked.

Shaking her head, Vivian replied, “We need to wait until the contractions are coming every five minutes for at least an hour. Sometimes they say every three to four minutes for two hours.”

Fuck. I would’ve felt much better about racing out of the house and heading to the hospital. The last thing on earth I wanted to think about was helping deliver the baby.

“So we just sit around and wait?”

As Theo nodded, Vivian said, “I’m going to go take a shower, so I’ll be ready for the hospital.”
