Chapter 22
When I woke up I wasno longer in the dark dungeon but back in the drake king’s bedroom.
Shifting on the bed, I winced and grimaced at the aches in my body. My clit throbbed with each move of my legs. Ryu’s punishment definitely had lasting effects on me. Speaking of which...
Rolling over, I reached for Ryu on his side of the bed. My hand found an empty space and no drake king.
My lips turned down in a frown. Where did he go?
Sitting up, I threw my legs over the bed and stood. Immediately, the cool air hit my naked flesh, and I remembered Ryu had cut my clothing off. I grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around myself. Thankfully, Ryu had left the torches lit when he left.
Stepping out of the room, my eyes found Tat waiting in the corridor. My face heated for a moment.
Tat kept his eyes on my face, not once dropping below my neck. He signed, his hands slow and unsure, “Where to?”
I lifted my chin and used my arm to hold the blanket while I signed, “Female’s quarters.”
We walked down the corridor without speaking to one another. I think Tat didn’t know what to say or maybe he didn’t want to say anything inappropriate or accidentally look at me below the neck.
While Tat had the good sense to ignore the fact that I was wearing nothing but a blanket, the guards at the female’s quarters did not. The blue one leered at me while the obsidian scaled one sneered with disgust.
Ignoring their looks, I left Tat at the door while I shoved into the room. A few of the drake females glanced my way but no one really cared about what I was wearing. Unlike what it would have been back at my castle. I could just imagine what the ladies of the court would have said if I walked in dressed like this.
Aryn sat between several drake females who were showing her how to weave a basket. At my appearance, her eyes widened, and she rushed to my side. I waved her off, signing one handed, “I’m fine.”
Beautine smirked from her seat.
I rolled my eyes and said, “Yes, I’m hilarious. Can I have something else to wear?”
Beautine said something to another female drake, who scuffled away. She returned a few moments later with a bundle of black cloth. I still had the material I’d gotten at the market. Unfortunately, I hadn’t had time to figure out how to get it tailored. I might be skilled in many things but a seamstress I was not.
Taking the clothing, I walked to the back area to change. Once again clothed, this time in a one piece dress, that clipped at the shoulders and trailed separately across my breasts before hooking in the middle below my breastbone. The rest of the cloth connected into a skirt that had a slit up both sides. An intricate metal and leather belt held the whole thing together.
Sighing, I held my head high as I walked out of the female’s quarters. Tat waited for me on the other side. He had the good sense not to ask any questions and simply let me lead the way.
Chapter 23
Sitting outside at the edge of the spring, my feet dangling in the water as I lean back on my hands, I could almost pretend I was on some kind of holiday rather than trying to save my kingdom. The sun was warm on my face, there were no clouds in the sky as if the gods themselves had wanted to give me a moment of peace.
I truly needed it.
After everything I’d given for my kingdom, I was a bit overwhelmed. I’d give my own life for the people of Kinokos and nearly had if Callahan had gotten his way. Now, here I was giving my body to not one drake but two!
My hands clutched the sides of my face as it heated. What would the ladies back at court think of me entertaining two males at once and not even fully human at that.
I burst out laughing.
They wouldn’t know what to think because the ladies at court were too prim and proper to do anything out of the ordinary. If they took lovers it was discreetly. Gods forbid that anyone finds out they actually enjoy the finer part of sex.
Probably one of the reasons I had never quite felt like I got along with them, even before I lost my hearing. They would certainly cast me out of their little social circle for this. Or at least, talk behind my back about it. Not that they didn’t already do that now.
I huffed out a breath of air.
Twisting my body so I could see behind me, I searched for where my guard, Tat, waited at the treeline’s edge. The drake had agreed to escort me outside and since the drake king knew I wasn’t going to run now that we were on the same side, I could come and go as I pleased. Still, I had to be careful. Callahan’s men were swarming the woods still trying to find me.
