“So, Ashley…”
Uh oh. That was a ‘serious’ conversation voice. Had he figured out something had happened between her and Mr. Black last night? Had he seen something he shouldn’t? She was so busy starting to panic, she almost missed his next words.
“I wanted to keep everything open with you because I think you’ve had enough surprises. I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to try to see more of your mom.”
Ashley blinked. It took a few moments for her brain to adjust that her uncle wasn’t saying anything about Mr. Black, then another few moments for her to hear what he had said, and then another few moments to start to interpret it.
“See more of her?”
“Spend more time with her. I know my brother fucked up, and I want to be there for her, and also, I just… like her. I wanted to let you know.”
Wait, did Uncle Kellar want to be her stepfather? Ashley blinked.
“You like-like her?”
“What, are we in high school?” he grumbled.
There was a long moment of silence, but Ashley had no problem waiting him out. The longer the silence stretched, the more awkward it got for him. Her own feelings were pretty… mild to be honest. There was also a petty part of her that thought her dad deserved to have his ex-wife end up with his own brother, considering what he’d done. Finally, Uncle Kellar cleared his throat again.
“Yes, I like-like your mom. I always kept my feelings hidden out of respect?—”
“Wait, wait, wait, this isn’t a new thing?!” Now that was a twist she hadn’t seen coming.
Damn.
“No. Anyway, if you have a problem with any of that, I’m happy to talk through things with you, but I’m determined to be there for your mom right now. As a friend, nothing more. For now. But I wanted to be open with you from the beginning.”
It didn’t take Ashley long to lean over and rest her head on Uncle Kellar’s shoulder. They were at a red light, so it was okay.
“You’re a really good guy, Uncle Kellar. I know Mom already appreciates you. I don’t know how she feels about you other than that, but I’m okay with it. Thank you for telling me.”
Even if it was pretty fucked up, it was a lot less fucked up than what her dad and Slut-becca had done. Her mom deserved happiness. Plus, she couldn’t help thinking Uncle Kellar was the better man, which was a sucky thing to have to realize about her own father.
When Uncle Kellar dropped her at her car, Ashley couldn’t help looking over at the spot where Mr. Black had stood last night, watching her go. Her pussy throbbed in response.
Sorry, body. Not going to be an opportunity to do that again.
Which was… kind of too bad, really. However, he was still married, and his wife was looking for evidence of him cheating. Which, if he hadn’t been before, he was after last night, but Ashley still didn’t want to bring him down.
She’d been mad at him, but it was as if he’d fucked that right out of her.
Now, she was kinda hoping he won the day, and Mrs. Black got left with the nothing she deserved for fucking around on him.

Lincoln
“So that’s everyone’s assignments for the week.” Lincoln looked around the room at his team, getting a variation of a thumbs up or a nod from everyone there. At his side, Harris leaned against the same table, arms crossed over his chest as he studied all of them.
Both of their teams were always present for the Monday meeting unless they had an assignment that prevented them from doing so. The only person who didn’t show up to these meetings was Marshall.
“Dismissed, everyone except Ginger.”
Ginger was the team leader for Alpha, Lincoln’s team. Harris’s team was Beta because he was the younger brother. Lincoln was the actual owner of Black Fox Security, so he got the Alpha team. ‘Ginger’ was also not his real name. It was David. Team Beta had started calling Team Alpha the Spice Doms when they found out Team Alpha all went to the same kink club and claimed the name fit because of how the team looked.
Granted, David actually was a ginger, Mason fit “posh” with all the suits he wore, Derek was the most athletic and “sporty,”Dominic was the youngest and the “baby” of the group, and Claudia was truly “scary.” Pretty much everyone who worked in the office was a little terrified of her. Even Lincoln, if he was honest. She was a highly skilled sniper who’d once shot her target in the balls from seven hundred yards away.
No one messed with Scary.
