He starts to make a whipping sound, and Ora laughs. “Don’t worry, Lore. The right woman is out there for you.”
Lore winces and makes the sign of a cross. “Don’t be trying to ruin my life, Ora. I thought we were friends. You don’t like me at all, do you?”
“You don’t want to settle down with one good woman?” Ora asks him, amusement dancing in her beautiful blue eyes.
“I like variety,” Lore admits, thoughtfully chewing on his bite of steak. “You know, sometimes I might be in the mood for something a little different, and I get to have that. Fucking one pussy for the rest of my life sounds like a life sentence. No offense, Ora. I’m sure yours is A grade?—”
“I’m going to fucking kill you,” I snap, but Lore simply grins and continues eating.
“Each to their own, right?”
“As long as they know what they’re getting into with you,” Ora replies, her brows creasing. “You don’t want to leave a string of broken hearts.”
“No, I don’t. Only thing I’m leaving behind is a line of well-satisfied cu?—”
I kick him in the shins.
“That fucking hurt.” He grimaces, then turns to my woman. “Did you know your man is so violent? If you want to jump ship, you could always?—”
“Join your line? No thanks, Lore.” Ora laughs, shaking her head in amusement.
“The offer still stands, darlin’,” Lore replies with a straight face.
I’m going to call him into the ring the second I get the chance so I can beat the shit out of him.
Ora has just finished her meal when my phone rings—Angel’s name flashes.
“Yeah?”
“War, get to the bakery,now.”
My eyes snap to Ora’s. “What’s happening?”
“It’s on fire. Someone has torched it.”
Fuck.
“You check the cameras?”
“Two men, wearing all black and masks. Can’t identify them,” he replies.
“War?” Ora asks, her brows creasing. She slides her plate away and stares at me.
“There’s a fire at the bakery,” I tell her, and she immediately jumps up.
Lore does the same, cracking his knuckles and stretching his head from side to side. “I’ll get the truck ready.”
Haze runs into the room, glancing between us. “Angel told me. I’m going to Luella’s to get her.”
He’s the only one I’ve heard use her full name.
“She’s safe?” Ora asks.
Haze nods, a muscle working in his jaw. “Yeah, she’s at home watching movies. We checked the cameras. She doesn’t know what’s happened yet.”
I pull Ora back against my body, needing her close. “Haze, bring Lu here. Both of you are moving into the clubhouse until this is sorted.”
Well, until fucking forever for Ora.
