It was a confession, one she whispered into the night without looking right at me. Devon had no such reservations, he had an icy glare on me, just daring me to fuck this up.

“That doesn't change anything between us, you know that, right, sweetheart?” I answered. Her eyes flooded with relief. Poor girl was a bundle of nerves. I hoped I could take some of that stress off of her shoulders one day.

“I hope so,” she offered. It was an olive branch, a hope-lined plea to the universe for the world not to let her down again.

I’d rather cut off my own arm than hurt her. I reached out for Devon’s hand, giving it a squeeze. He tensed for a fraction of a second before he relaxed, fingers intertwined with mine. It was my silent stand together that we’d keep her heart safe.

“Trust in your pack, Wren,” Devon said gently. “Because I’m even more convinced that you and I are mates. We just have to give you time to heal before your omega realizes it, too.”

“We start with a date, because even if you’re not ready to move in together, I plan to spend every moment I can getting to know you both,” I promised.

“Why not start tomorrow?” Wren said. “I’m off work and could use a day out.”

“Tomorrow,” Devon agreed with an excited grin. There was that sunshine smile again.

Even if I had to work, I’d figure it out. I had two omegas who needed me and not a damn thing in this world was going to hold me back.

“Tomorrow.”

Wren

“Wake up, baby,” Devon’s gentle voice washed over me in the most calming way. My eyelids fluttered open as he tucked me closer to his side. The warmth of his body was almost as soothing as his voice.

“I could get used to waking up like this,” I husked as I focused on the sexy omega next to me.

Last night was insane and by the time we made it home, he simply dragged me to his nest and we relaxed under the twinkle lights with snuggles and talking. It was this cozy burst of blue ombre that reminded me of the sky on a clear spring day.

I never realized things could be this easy. It felt like we’d known each other for years, talking until our words slurred with sleep and we passed out.

“Good, because I’m not sure I can ever sleep alone again,” he said as he buried his nose in my hair, breathing me in. “You smell even better in the morning.”

The longing in his voice had my chest aching. I didn’t want to voice my hope that when my omega was awakened that we’d be true scent matches. The last thing either of us wanted was heartbreak.

Whatever we were was enough. This felt right.

“Nash texted that he wanted to take us out for breakfast and a drive. Something about spoiling his omegas,” he hummed, a happy little smile on his face as he pulled back.

“I like the sound of that,” I said as I forced myself to sit up. If I stayed in his warm arms and cozy nest there was no way I’d be able to get up and get ready.

Before I could fully sit I was being yanked back down, laughing as he pinned me under him, refusing to let me go.

“No, I’m not ready,” he grumbled, his husky voice no longer just because of sleep. With him over me like this, pinned to his nest, my brain was no longer thinking about getting up to shower.

His lips found my neck, brushing featherlight kisses over my exposed skin. I shivered at the ghostly touches, goosebumps erupting on my skin as I melted into his attention.

How long had it been since anyone teased me like this? Hell, the answer would be never. Most of the men I’d dated in the past weren’t the romantic types and… well, I wasn’t going to think about the ones who took what I never offered.

A nip at my ear had my thoughts fading away.

“Stay out of that gorgeous head of yours,” he ordered. “Though, tell me if I should stop. Otherwise, I think an orgasm or two could be an amazing start to our day.”

Was I ready for that? He paused, giving me a chance to say no or back out.

Not a single reason to hold back came to mind.

“I think that sounds perfect,” I reassured him. He looked up, flashing me a grin before capturing my lips in a possessive kiss. I had a feeling that Devon was the type of omega who got what he wanted. “I was tested twice, just so you know.”

“Me, too,” he promised with a smile that said he wasn’t worried in the least.
