“He’s changed a lot,” Hiro noted. “He used to be so angry all the time. We never would have connected if you hadn’t come here.”
“I didn’t do anything to change him, though,” I said. “Other than push his buttons and piss him off.”
“You got past his walls somehow,” Hiro said, refusing to let me hide it.
“Maybe it was the day I wanted my body back and demanded he fuck me, no strings attached. Then there were suddenly strings.” I snorted.
“Strings look good on you two,” he said as he pulled me down for a kiss.
Hiro was finding himself, his confidence, and it was hot as fuck. I breathed in his sweet and smokey scent and sighed happily.
“I like this new Hiro,” I said as he pulled away. “You can feel free to kiss me any time you want.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he grinned, a blush coloring his cheeks. “Now pick something.”
I opened the folder Drake pointed out and was surprised to find an insane amount of titles he’d downloaded.
“Who knew he was a movie buff,” I joked. “Then again, we’re stuck here and he has been here for his entire life.”
“True,” Hiro agreed. “Anything scary in there?”
“Really? You don’t get enough of that here?” I deadpanned.
He grinned up at me. “At least we know the movie is fake.”
We got the movie loaded and snuck into the snacks for some popcorn, just sitting back down when Drake walked back in with a stack of boxes and an armful of drinks.
“Alright, what did you pick?” he asked as he dropped the boxes on the bed and handed us sodas.
“You’re my hero.” I hummed as I took a drink of the fountain soda. It was one thing you didn’t realize you’d miss until it wasn’t an option.
“We picked this one,” Hiro said, pointing out the demon movie he’d chosen so we could laugh at the differences.
“Interesting choice.” Drake snorted as he joined us, handing us each a pizza box. “Just eat what you want, I’ll take the rest up to Mom later.”
“When are we moving her down here?” I asked.
“I’m not sure, I’ve been putting it off because of her nurse,” he admitted. “She’s used to her.”
“So, move the nurse down here with us. Kol kicked Drew to the curb. I doubt she shows her face again,” I said. “We got the room cleaned up; we just have to get her things. Maybe that nurse will actually give us the right meds.”
“That’s not a bad idea,” he admitted.
“Then do it. We’ll find a way to make it easy on her,” I promised.
“She loves plants, I want to grab her some,” he said. “It seems so stupid with how things are going here. But I want her to not have to stare at plain walls.”
“There’s got to be a nursery around here somewhere. Go spend some of Vane’s money and get her what she deserves,” Hiro said.
“We can help set it all up,” I agreed.
Drake, in true Drake fashion, angrily turned on the movie and took an aggressive bite of pizza in response.
“Stop being so nice, it’s weird,” he muttered. I knocked my shoulder into his but didn’t take it any further.
In two hours, we’d eaten most of the pizza outside of a few pieces of each kind we reserved for his mom. We spent half of the movie laughing at their attempt at demons. The creatures didn’t even have claws, fangs, or tails, just red-painted human men with no hair.
Why were they always bald?
