Keira’s eyes widened.“That’s all?”A blush crawled across her face as she looked at Logan and her sister before swinging back to him.“Have we even had ...you know?”Keira whispered.
Logan coughed to cover a laugh, earning a slap on the arm from his wife.
Daniel pushed a bit of hair off her forehead and behind her ear.“Yes, Baby. Many times.”
Keira’s face reddened further as she whispered irritably, “Don’t say that so loud.”
This time, Layla hid her face and held back her chuckle.“On that note, we’re going to head home for a shower and a nap, but we’ll be back later this afternoon.Daniel, if she’s able to get out earlier, call us.”
“You guys don’t need to come back.I’ll call you from home, and we can get together tomorrow. You have to be exhausted from your honeymoon.”
Layla leaned over the bed and kissed her sister on the cheek, trying to hide her worried look, but Keira caught it.
“We’ll see, Keira.”
Logan came over and kissed her cheek.“Get some rest, Sis.”
Keira chuckled.“I like the sound of that.I think I’ll like having you for a brother.”
“You will.”
Keira smiled and rolled her eyes as she watched the door close behind them.Fatigue and a headache were starting to wear down any energy she had, and all she wanted to do was sleep. But she wanted to understand why everyone was tense at times.
She closed her eyes and relaxed back, hoping to relieve her head. She would let herself rest and then ask the questions bombarding her.

Daniel watched herslip into sleep and stood, turning off most of the lights and closing the blinds to darken the room before he let himself relax back in the chair beside her bed.He needed to get some rest.He had a feeling things were about to detonate and he’d need all his strength, both mentally and physically.
It felt like he had just closed his eyes when a strangled sound jerked him into consciousness.Keira was talking and crying at the same time. His heart broke when she started what sounded like pleading. Her body thrashed around on the bed.
He wrapped his arms around her to keep her arms at her side, lifted her and the blanket into his arms, and then sat down on the chair. He held her close to his chest and murmured words, trying to comfort and calm her.He thought about calling a nurse but remembered Keira’s plea not to get sedated. He figured if it got too bad or kept up for a while, he’d have no choice.
As the seconds ticked by, she relaxed a little more until she rested against his chest. His heart seized when he noticed that although she had quieted back to sleep, tears were still running down her cheeks.
Tears burned his own eyes when he heard her whisper in her sleep.Daniel lifted her tighter against his chest, laid his cheek against her head, and let his own tears free.He fell asleep shortly after, never loosening his grip on her.
