Tanner poured himself another drink. “He’ll kill you if he finds out who you are.”

“Don’t get me excited, Tan.”

“That gleam is back,” Psycho said. I narrowed my eyes on him, and Tanner shook his head, silently telling him to shut the fuck up.

Micah turned to Psycho. “Can you contact G and see if he’s heard anything through the Ludus?”

“Sure, but he’s been hard to get a hold of recently.”

I snickered. “Just get your sister to ask. Then you’ll get a prompt reply.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”Typical male. Entirely clueless. Emerson bumped my leg under the counter, tellingmeto shut the fuck up.

“Nothingggg,” I said with exaggeration. “Where is your innocent baby sister anyway?”

Psycho lifted a brow. “Variant Sanctorum.” Ava was his shining glory, a faultless saint who volunteered at the church above our home. Always hidden and safe, of course. Her pure image was surprising for someone who was locked up in a whore house for a year straight. Despite her perceived innocence, Iliked her. She took care of Fran, and that made her worthy of keeping her secrets in my book.

My attention caught on a cockroach that scurried between the alcohol bottles lining the wall. Shooting up from my seat, I backpedalled to the exit. “Since we’re done here, I’m leaving. Just standing in this place detracts my attractiveness by the second.” Turning for the door, I pushed a loose strand of red hair out of my face and popped a giant bubble with my gum. “And if you had any dignity, you’d leave this cesspit too.” It would take a whole bottle of body wash to rid myself of the filth in that place.

With my arms crossed and foot tapping, the ornate black door barely peeped open before I shoved through. Remi staggered backward, barely moving in time so my stiletto heels didn’t pierce straight through his bare foot.

“Now, hear me out,” I rushed. “My sisters are otherwise occupied, and everyone else is bland beyond belief.” Reaching the centre of Remi’s treasure trove, I spun, the skintight leather of my outfit melded to my skin, black hair cascading down my back to match my dark, alluring form of the day.

“I knew you’d be back,” Remi replied with a sexy sideways smirk. My eyes lowered down his body, more clinical than lust-induced. His injured back was healing fast, the stripped flesh melding well under the tender care of the top healers Junction City had to offer. Nothing less for one of Vice’s very own.

He wasn’t completely naked this time. Instead, he’d opted for blinding gold briefs, the sheen clashing with his silver eyes.

“Oh, honey, whoever told you those two colours go together?” I trudged behind his divider screen and threw his silk dressing gown at his chest. “Get out of that constricting material before your dick falls off.”

He pushed his arms through the sleeves. “In such a hurry to get me naked, Spencer?”

My gaze locked with his manhood, and I considered testing out his proficiency. Nevertheless, it didn’t do anything for me.

I huffed. “If only it were that easy. The tight hold of those golden briefs have me concerned. Look at your balls, they’re screaming out for reprieve. Gosh, boy, let them breathe.”

Remi burst into laughter, then shortly bowed over in pain. “Maybe you’re right.” He slipped behind the divider and returned in a pair of loose boxers. “I think I’m offended.”

I rummaged through his stash of candy. “About what?” I asked absentmindedly.

He was quiet long enough that my stare raised to his. He almost looked bashful.A whore, playing coy? Now I have seen it all.

“That you don’t want me,” he said. I chuckled, and his face dropped at my indifference.

“Confident, are we?” I asked, stepping up to him. “You have every reason to be. You’re a girl’s wet dream if I ever saw one. Hell, a man’s too.” I smirked, tapping my palm against his clean-shaven cheek. “But there’s only one I want…and no one else will do.” A conquest I was unwilling to let go.

Remi smiled beneath my hand. “So, how can I help?”

“See, I knew you were my guy.” Returning to his stash, I found what I wanted. “You know, these are limited edition.”

“I know.”

Stuffing the gum into my mouth, I gave my proposition. “Come out with me… Let’s go to Life Support.” A new club in Serpents Row that was buzzing with popularity.

“I’m working.”
