I wasn’t used to that strange, unfamiliar feeling. I think Micah said the word for it was jealousy. I had never experienced it before. All one had to do was look at me to know I got whatever I wanted. And if I didn’t, I took it anyway. So, the need for a useless emotion like jealousy never arose…until now.

Movement caught my eye as Sudo entered the open lounge area, passing the floor-to-ceiling windows that showcased the Junction City skyline, glowing in the distance. Serpents Row flickered to life as the sun descended for another day. Sudo’s arm skimmed mine as she bypassed my position at the kitchen bench, grabbing water from the fridge, acting as if I was invisible. Completely non-existent.

I wasn’t used to being overlooked. Sure, she didn’t recognise me due to my changed appearance, how could she know? ButIknew, all too familiar with the voice that begged for me to stay, or even her face when it was contorted in orgasmic ecstasy. Sudo had been submissive fucking putty in my hands, and I could do it again…if I was that way inclined.

I dramatically bit the end of another strawberry and stepped right in front of her.

“Want one?” I asked, presenting my half-eaten morsel.

Sudo pitched a manicured black eyebrow. “Shouldn’t you be cooking dinner for your master, not offering up contaminated fruit to guests?”

“Master?” I asked, my voice on the verge of splitting into a screech.

“You’re Echo’s assistant, aren’t you?” I practically choked from the insinuation.Did Echo tell them I was the fucking help? Some bitch was going to die. “Now, make sure you don’t leave those strawberries laying around. Melonie’s highly allergic.” Before I could get a word in, Sudo sauntered for the elevator, disappearing behind the closing doors.

I swiped the chef’s apron off the kitchen hook and tightened it around my waist as my tongue flicked out to lick my lips, dosing my skin in berry sweetness. Undercover jobs were my favourite, and Echo had carelessly made his next offensive move.My turn.

With a glass of water in hand, I ventured for the wide hallway that stretched down to the remainder of the apartment. Three bedrooms, one office and a gym, all lined with walls made of modern frosted glass, giving the illusion of privacy.

Sticking to the shadowed lines skirting the walkway, my feet dragged me to the entrance of Echo’s office, the door ajar from Sudo’s departure. A low-toned conversation could be heard instead of the panted moans that I’d conjured up in my imagination.Lucky for them.

I stole a glance through the crack, and with the accuracy of pristine timing, Echo answered a call, slipping into his bedroom that adjoined his office. He left Cowgirl sitting on the opposite side of his desk, staring after him like he hung the moon.

Unfurling my clenched fist, I blew out a long breath. Echo had left the playing field open and ready for my takeover.Show time, baby.

“Hi,” I announced, popping my head through the door. “Just seeing if I can grab you anything?”

I plumped my lips, letting them lift into a flirtatious smile. The gentle curve was a proven aphrodisiac; jolting in the least, disarming at best. My magnetic charm supercharged to the highest degree.

I considered it my unofficial superpower, cultivated and honed over years of studying the intricacies of human desires. No matter your preference, if my attention was directed on you, I’d soon become your new obsession. Charisma was a given, inspiring devotion and compelling admiration wherever I went—the ultimate exhilaration gained from stealing one’s power away from them. The only person who had ever been immune was Echo, proven by the knife he’d previously stabbed in my chest.

Melonie abruptly stood, a flush creeping up her neck as her eyes rapidly blinked, soaking in my features.

I offered the glass of water, flashing a sliver of teeth. “I thought I’d bring you something to quench your thirst.”

Melonie gulped, reaching for my offering. “Ah…thank—” As her fingertips grazed mine, the glass slipped from my grasp, water cascading over both of us. I gasped, kneeling at her feet, making a fuss over the drenched floor.

“I’m sorry,” I said, my tone supple and smooth. My palm raised to layer over her trembling knee, and as my gaze climbed up her body, our eyes connected, contact firm and intense.

I could almost read her mind. A raucous mess of confusion. She was attracted to me and didn’t know what to do with that new piece of information. Poor girl never stood a chance against my enchanting hold and magical pussy power.

My fingertips barely skimmed over her skin as I raised in one fluid motion, our chests an inch away from touching. Sure, she was pretty, with endless legs and all those good things. In a previous life, I would have been tempted.

I twined a strand of her long blonde hair between my fingers. “A shame, really,” I said, giving her a doe-eyed expression, lashes fluttering to lure her in.

Melonie deftly licked her lips as if unable to hold the action back, eyes drilling over my mouth with a thirst so deep and so familiar, a triumphant thump ricocheted beneath my ribs. “A shame for what?” she finally managed to sputter out breathlessly, the exhale of her words floating over my face.

“A shame—” My tongue dipped out to trace the lining of her plump lips. I’m sure she stopped breathing, her body involuntarily tilting forward, searching for more. Then, the tip of her tongue flicked out to touch mine, that sliver of contact causing a shiver to track down her body.

I pulled back before she got carried away, the damage already done. “It’s a shame you’re in my home, trying to take what belongs to me.”

Melonie’s reaction was instant, her eyes widening as aggressive red welts raised over her lower face.

That’s when I noticed Echo standing in the open doorway, frozen with his phone held to his ear. His eyes tracked over Melonie in rapid appraisal before switching to my smug, arrogant smirk.

“What the fuck have you done?”

I gave half a shrug and turned while Melonie rummaged through her atrocious cowhide handbag. Scratch marks marred her neck as raspy breaths escaped her closing throat.
