Case lies still on a bed in the clinic section of Olympia, tubes and wires coming from his body. I knew the second he was hit—I could feel it. Brennan rushed to see Jimmie, and he confirmed there was an explosion. That Kai had run back in to get Case.

We met them here so everyone could be checked, and Case still hasn’t woken up. “Why hasn’t he healed yet?”

“He hit his head hard, Princess. Two days in a coma isn’t unusual,” Kai says, squeezing my hand. “I’m sorry.”

“Why are you sorry? This isn’t your fault. I sent you all in without Brennan.”

“I didn’t know he was still inside. Shit started blowing up, and so we all ran. Once again, Ziyon was ten steps ahead of us.”

“I want all of this to end before the babies are born. They can’t come into a world with the risk that their own family is out to hurt them. If we are a target, then so are they.”

“As soon as I get my hands on him, I’m going to fucking kill him. He has sealed his own fate,” Chester growls from the doorway. I turn to look at him and nod my head. I can’t argue with him about this. If it is Ziyon or the safety of my children, then he has to go. He could have worked with us to make Olympia great. Instead, his ego got the better of him, just like Mr Z. Maybe in the end they were both too far gone.

I have started to read the journal of my great-grandfather and his dream for Olympia. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to see any of this in his lifetime. My grandfather started this pursuit later in his life, along with Mr Z and Ziyon. But somewhere along the way, lines blurred, and his sons strayed from the original plans. I aim to get us back on course, to see out a man’s dreams—how he had envisioned them.

“Are you okay?” Chester asks, when I don’t respond to him.

“I’m fine, just worried he won’t wake up.” I swipe at a few stray tears that have fallen.

“He will wake up,” Kai says. “He doesn’t trust us with you, so he will fight to bring himself back.”

“I have to go meet with this new scientist,” Chester says. “This is the closest we have been to someone understanding what is happening with the babies, especially now we have those extra files.”

“It’s not your fault you don’t understand it. You will one day,” I tell Chester in support while squeezing his hand.

“I should have listened to Mr Z every time he pushed me to learn more. He was trying to prepare us, and we were all too stupid to see the signs.”

“Not stupid, stubborn,” I correct him. They are all far from stupid; everything they do is so far advanced for how young they are. He really needs to give himself a break.

“Kai’s stupid.”

I gasp and turn around to see Case’s eyes slowly opening, but don’t miss the silly grin on his face.

“I’ll get the doc,” Chester says, racing out of the room.

“Smarter than your stupid ass,” Kai retorts.

Case slowly lifts his hand and flips Kai off.

“I’m so glad you’re okay,” I tell him, shuffling as close as I can beside his bed. The doctor comes into the room, and I refuse to move—he can work around me.

The doctor checks over all his vitals, but I’m lost to all the medical talk. I just sit quietly beside the bed and wait. I hold Case’s and Kai’s hands while we listen to the doctor.

“Everything is looking good. I will come back and check on you shortly,” he says and leaves the room.

Tears spill from my eyes, and I rest my head on the side of the bed, unable to keep it together any longer. Case untangles our fingers and strokes my head. “Don’t cry, Wildflower. I’m okay, thanks to Kai coming back in for me.”

“No sweat. I couldn’t let my baby brother get blown into pieces.”

“I can’t help it. Everyone keeps getting hurt because of me,” I cry.

We are interrupted by Brennan walking into the room, his phone tucked against his ear. “Keep me updated.”

We all wait until he pockets his phone before questioning him. “That was Corey. Ziyon moved everyone an hour before you got there. They have been in a secret location and have not been allowed contact with anyone. He was taken home today, completely blindfolded, so no one knows where they are located. No phones are allowed while they are on duty.”

“So what the fuck are we supposed to do now?” Kai says in exasperation.
