“What’s up!” I shout back.
A knock sounds from the front door, but the guys don’t seem to care.
“Can you get that, please?” Chrissy asks.
“I can’t. Korra has claimed my lap, and therefore, I have cat paralysis.”
“There’s no such thing,” she fires back.
“No, he’s right. Cat paralysis is real,” Rome chimes in, not removing his attention from the TV screen.
The knock sounds again, and my sister sighs and mumbles something about men being a pain in her ass.
“Sorry, apparently the guys lost the ability in their legs.” Chrissy greets the person on the other side of the door.
With a small chuckle, my attention is pulled toward where my sister and her friend now stand.
Raina Bennett.
I first saw her outside the stadium. Her smile caught my attention, and then it moved to her hazel eyes and long dark hair. She’s been hanging around Chrissy and Gwen more often, but I haven’t seen her since the playoff game.
She looks over at me, pursing her lips in amusement.
“Cat paralysis?” she asks.
“Told you it was real,” I tease my sister, who rolls her eyes at me.
“Gwen and I are almost done. You can hang out with us or?—”
“Are you guys playing that new zombie game?” Raina asks, cutting my sister off.
With a lopsided grin, Chrissy shrugs her shoulders and heads back into the kitchen.
“Want to play a round? I’m about to kick Ash’s ass.” Rome chuckles, nudging his shoulder.
“Shush, I’m focusing . . . fuck!”
“Gwen’s a much better teammate,” Rome laughs before offering her the controller.
Ash stands when she takes it, dropping the other remote beside me.
Raina and I look at one another. My heart flutters when she grins, and my palms start to sweat when I pick up the controller.
“Want to be my player one?” I ask her.
She walks over to me and takes a seat. Our knees brush, and I gulp in response.
“I would love to.”
