He knew what you were. He’d been here since the beginning of Damnation MC. He’d known, you know.”
Uh no, I didn’t know. But the look Cain gave to him quelled any thoughts of elaborating on his part. I made a mental note to corner Trigger about it though. “Anyway, Dad knew. And he told me before I patched in. No one else in the Club has made the connection, but the old timers suspect. It's been thirty years and you guys look like you are still twenty-five. I’m pretty sure no ladies face cream is that good. And I know for a fact you haven’t been bathing in the blood of virgins,” he laughed.
“Your secret’s safe with me. But it seems to me, sooner or later, you’re gonna have to make some decisions and I’ve been ensuring that those decisions are easy for you.”
Cain was standing now, pulling his shirt over his head, hiding those glorious inked abs. “What are you trying to say, Trig?”
“I’ve been getting you fake identities, setting up offshore accounts, making it so you can disappear for a little while.”
Cain and Solomon seemed to be in shock. I tilted my head at Trigger, trying to find his angle. “You want to be President after they disappear?”
He grinned at me. “Fuck yeah I do. But that's not for another decade or two right? Unless the world ends and they have to go full Horseman before that, but then it won’t matter if the MC has a Pres or not, because we’ll all be in Hell.” He laughed. “Not gonna complain because some of those angels were hot as fuck.”
I had to laugh. It bubbled up in my chest until I couldn’t breathe from the laughter spilling over my lips. “You are a horny bastard, Trigger.”
He grinned, his teeth so white and straight they should have been in a toothpaste commercial.
“I’ve started one for you too, Dippy. And the baby, though that’ll have to wait until we know if it's a
boy or a girl. I don’t know what you are, but I can’t imagine that a fucking big ass angel would want a normal human, no matter how hot you are.”
Cain growled and Trigger just grinned at him some more. The guy obviously likes taking his life in his hands. I stood up and walked over to the cowboy hat wearing biker. What an enigma he was.
“You’d be right. Thanks Trigger. I appreciate it.”
“You’re welcome, Dippy. And all it’ll cost you is a kiss. Aren’t I generous?” Solomon and Cain lunged for him but he ducked away, laughing. “I’m joking. Jesus. Fuck, can I still say Jesus? Anyway, Pres says Church now. Also, bring Dippy.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You guys let women in Church?”
Trigger shook his head. “No, but we can make an exception when the woman that has the entire upper hierarchy of the MC wrapped around her little finger, and that little finger is in mortal peril.”
“Not the whole upper hierarchy,” I said, and Trigger waggled his eyebrows.
“I could be convinced,” he mock whispered, and Solomon came up behind him and slapped the back of his head. “Even think it, and I’ll let Goliath chop off your dick.”
Trigger laughed, straightening his hat as he walked toward the door. “Two dick threats in one conversation is a bit of an overkill, don't you think?”
He laughed as he walked down the hall.
“That little fucker talks too much,” Cain grumbled, threading his fingers in mine and walking out the door of his apartment. He looked over his shoulder at Solomon. “Almost as much as you.
Actually, I’m kind of regretting apprenticing him with you during his Prospect days. He’s picked up way too many of your bad fucking habits.”
Solomon just laughed, stepping closer so he could rest his hand on my spine.
We were in front of the huge double doors before I knew it. My steps slowed. I wasn’t sure I was ready to be back in that room. I could still feel the power of the Archangel Michael like an ache in my skull.
But I'd had my quota of weakness for the week. I straightened my shoulders and let out a breath through my nose.I’ve got this.
I shook out Cain’s hand from mine, giving him a soft smile to let him know it wasn’t something he did. Solomon seemed to get it, and dropped his hand from my skin.
They stepped around me, walking in first, because they were VP and Road Captain. They commanded the respect of the other members. I slinked around the corner, not trying to interfere, but regardless of my stealth, every head turned to face me. Trigger and Shots gave me warm looks, and some of the others gave me respectful nods. Some outright death glared at me. Including Goliath.
But that glare didn’t erase the kiss.
Judas cleared his throat, drawing my gaze from Goliath. His stare was intense, and just like the first day I met him. I couldn’t help but shrink back from the power he emanated. Now I knew that it was more than a charisma that powerful leaders had. It was preternatural. Otherworldly. Straight from fucking Hell.
“Take a seat, Serendipity.” He indicated the chair behind him next to the wall. The naughty chair?
