Sammie frowned. “Were you two kissing?”

I said, “yes” at the same time Marco signedNo!

I raised an eyebrow at him and he blushed. It was fucking adorable on his killer face. “I must have been confused. Marco, help me off the couch?”

Marco stood up and carefully lifted me from the low settee. I rubbed my stomach where it was getting increasingly uncomfortable. “My mistake. I might just go have a lie down and think about it some more, hmm?”

Marco stood there, gaping like a dummy while I kissed the kids heads and walked toward the stairs. I was exhausted. I didn’t know how many weeks along I was in comparison to human pregnancies, but I had to be getting close in angel human hybrid gestation terms. The baby was sapping every last ounce of strength I had.

I almost wept at the sight of my bed. I was seriously considering turfing over all five of my prospective love interests and having a committed monogamous relationship with my pillowtop innerspring mattress. I collapsed onto my side, and rubbed at the ache in my stomach. It was beginning to come more frequently, and my hindbrain knew what it was. I just wasn't ready. But it wasn’t something that was going to go away if I ignored it though.

I pulled out my phone and called the one person who was my safe space.

“Hey Beautiful,” he said, his voice instantly assuaging my fears. Cain was my protector. He’d make everything okay. “What are you doing?”

“Oh you know, lying down. Going into labor, I think.”

“Nice… hang on, what?”

I took a deep breath so he didn’t pick up on my panic. “Lying down. Going into labor. I think it might be you know, the time?”

Something clanged in the shop, as he whispered the words “fuck, fuck, fuck.” To me, he said, in a

faux calm voice like I couldn’t hear him freaking out, “Alright. I’ll be there in a second. Don’t worry, Beautiful. It’s all going to be fine.” He hung up but not before I heard him yelling for Solomon.

Cain appeared a minute later, puffing like he’d just run a one minute mile. He gave me a beautiful smile, nothing in his demeanor giving away the sheer panic I heard a moment ago. “Sol has just gone to get Judas. What do you want to do, Sera? Hospital? Why the hell haven’t we thought about this before?”

Judas strolled into the room, looking so calm it was hard not to feel perfectly at ease along with him.

He slapped Cain on the back, “I’ve been thinking about it for all of us.”

I sighed out a relieved breath as he came over and kissed my forehead. “No hospitals,” I said softly, and he nodded.

“No hospitals. I’ve got someone lined up. I’ll go make some calls.”

He left the room with one more stroke of my hair. Cain was pacing back and forth, but Sol finally appeared in the doorway, looking golden and beautiful. He walked over and climbed on the bed beside me. He curled his body around mine and stroked my stomach. “Soon, little one,” he murmured softly, then kissed the back of my neck. “How are you feeling, Dippy?”

I grinned at the pacing Cain. “Better than the big guy, I think. He was meant to be the calm one.”

Solomon huffed a laugh, the puff of air cooling against my neck. “Yeah, normally he’s level headed. It’s just you who turns him into a mess.” He sat up a little. “Hey shithead, you don’t have to run a marathon over there. Sit your ass down.”

Cain gave him two fingers, but sat down in the rocking chair that had come from Sweetie. It groaned ominously, but held. I wondered if he’d rock my baby there? I was so fucking terrified.

Judas walked back in like he didn’t have a care in the world. He looked at Cain. “I need you to go to this address. Tell them you are Damnation, they’ll know what I want. Take the truck,” he said softly, totally in control. But that was just Judas, wasn’t it?

Cain looked at me, fidgeting. “Can’t you send one of the guys? I need to be here.”

Judas put on his Pres face. “You need to do something. You are freaking Dippy the fuck out. I need you to go do this pick up, then calm your ass down. She’s going to need you; the normal you. The cool ass fucker who would lay down his life for hers. Now go.”

Cain still looked torn, and I smiled. “Go. I read it will be hours yet.”

He leaned forward and kissed my lips softly. “Don’t you dare fucking have a baby without me.

Cross your legs if you have to,” he teased, then he grabbed the address from Judas and left.

I grinned at the remaining men in my room. The golden god and the one-eyed villain. A contraction hit me and I curled up, glad Cain wasn’t here because there was no way he would have left if he’d seen this.

Solomon rubbed my lower back with his knuckles throughout the whole spasm, and I exhaled a sigh when it loosened. “Talk to me, Judas.”
