Valor gripped him tighter, sending cherished sensations through Zorion’s body until the urges slammed into his groin.

“Mmm.”

“You better stop moaning like that,” Valor warned with a sensual growl.

Zorion was unable to not respond to Valor when he took that tone with him.

He turned and straddled Valor’s lap, his knees pressing into the seat on either side of him.

He gazed into those light eyes, the moonlight creating the illusion his irises were made of liquid metal.

A deeper groan rumbled from Valor’s chest as he tightened his grip on Zorion’s waist, pulling him even closer. He wove his heavy hand into his long hair and used it to crane his head to the side before Valor pressed his lips to his and slid his demanding tongue inside.

Zorion moaned again, long and salacious, until Valor was tasting him with desperate passion.

He let out a breathless sigh, roaming his hands over Zorion’s hard chest, digging his fingers into muscle.

They parted for a second, gasping for air, before crashing together again. Nothing mattered at that moment except the taste of each other. An intoxicating blend of beer, freedom, and love.

When they returned to the cabin, their bodies once again sated and their minds at ease, exhaustion claimed them the moment they collapsed into the bed.

But peace never lasted long.

Valor

One week later.

It was five in the morning, and he and Zorion were loading up the boat like they’d done every morning since they had arrived.

Valor had just finished adding the fishing gear when their satellite phone rang.

He and Zorion exchanged disappointed looks before Valor pushed the button to receive the call.

“I need you to get to the location Glitch is about to send you,” Jo said without a greeting. “Meridian went in with the Browns and killed the director in his own office last night.”

“Holy shit.”

“Yeah.” Jo snickered. “And from what I hear, Meridian honored his promise.”

“He tortured him?”

“Yep,afterGrace shot him with a lethal dose of cyanide.”

“Damn. That’s some ruthless shit.”

Valor felt no remorse except that he hadn’t been the one to do it.

“I’m mobilizing the team to infiltrate the facility. Now’s the time to get in and extract Zelmir’s family before his dirty guards attempt to tie up loose ends.”

Valor hung up and quickly told Zorion what’d happened.

“Shit,” Zorion bit out, already moving.

Their respite had been brief but still a gift.

Now, it was time to finish the war.
